Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc surveyed the progress of the renovation and upgrading project of provincial road 961.
Provincial Road 961 is 22.2km long; its starting point is Giai Phong 9 ferry terminal, and its end point is Xa Dieu bridge (bordering Provincial Road 960). It is a Class V road with a 5.5m wide surface and a crushed stone and asphalt pavement. The entire route includes 25 reinforced concrete bridges with a total length of nearly 885m and a load capacity of 10-13 tons.
Currently, the road surface is partially damaged, so repairs are being carried out, combined with reinforcing the road shoulders and completing the traffic safety system according to standard 41:2024/BGTVT, meeting the needs of ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow for people and vehicles; at the same time, meeting the requirements of transportation development in the area.
The starting point of Provincial Road 961.
The project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 961, the section from Giai Phong 9 ferry terminal to Ngo Si Lien Practice High School, includes road repairs, totaling 4,140m in length. In addition, the existing 5.5m wide road surface will undergo surface maintenance and shoulder reinforcement (1m on each side).
The project also includes a traffic safety system: road centerline markings and traffic signs in accordance with the National Technical Standard on Road Traffic Signs QCVN 41:2024/BGTVT.
The total approved investment is nearly 19.64 billion VND, with the An Giang Department of Construction as the investor, Tay Ninh Construction Investment Joint Stock Company as the contractor, CIC Kien Giang Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company as the designer, and Hung Thinh Urban Infrastructure Consulting and Construction Company Limited as the supervisor. The contract duration is 120 days from the date of site handover.
During the inspection, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc requested the Department of Construction to immediately address the damaged road surface. At the same time, he urged them to focus on completing the project and putting it into use as soon as possible.
