- For nearly a month now, the road leading to Son Ha Primary School, Huu Lung Commune has been seriously eroded, causing difficulties for teachers and students to travel . Notably, the traffic congestion on this road has caused many vehicles of parents and students to stop and park on National Highway 1A during rush hour, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.
Through the reporter's actual observations, it is estimated that the landslide point is about 20 meters long, about 6.5 meters wide and on the first day the road intersects with National Highway 1A, leading to Son Ha Primary School. Talking with some local people, it is known that due to the impact of storm No. 11 causing prolonged heavy rain, the ground was soaked with water, sliding down the negative slope, causing this road section to collapse on November 8.
The road is now deeply gouged, posing a risk to people and vehicles, especially during rush hours when students are going to school. The road surface, which was originally about 6.5 meters wide, has now narrowed to only about 50 centimeters, just enough for one motorbike to pass, greatly affecting the traffic flow.

Mr. Bui Nguyen Quan, a vendor near the landslide leading to Son Ha Primary School, said: At the end of school hours, parents' vehicles park on one side of the road, even overflowing onto National Highway 1A, causing traffic congestion. In particular, the already narrow section near the landslide is now even more difficult to travel, especially on rainy days. Many times, motorbikes and bicycles have to wait for one side to pass before moving. People with weak steering, especially parents picking up their children, often have to stop at the top and wait for the traffic to clear before getting off because the road is narrow, slippery, and very dangerous.
Since the landslide, the commune authorities have put up warning ropes in the dangerous area and advised people to limit their travel. However, because the alternative route is far away and more inconvenient, most parents still choose to go through the landslide because it is close and convenient for taking their children to school. Son Ha Primary School currently has about 400 students, and every day hundreds of students, parents and people go through this road.
More importantly, the fact that many vehicles of parents of students are parked on National Highway 1A poses a potential risk to traffic safety. At the time the reporter was present (4:00 p.m. on October 30, 2025), there were nearly 50 motorbikes and electric bicycles of parents parked in the above area, encroaching on the motorbike lane on National Highway 1A.

Mr. Nghiem Huu Khanh (residing in Huu Lung commune), who often picks up his children to school through the landslide, shared: Due to my old age, since this road collapsed, I do not dare to drive down to the school gate like before, but often stop at the top, waiting for my children to walk up to pick them up. The road is now narrow and slippery, and if you are not careful, accidents can happen, especially on rainy days. I hope that the authorities will soon take measures to fix it so that traveling and picking up children will be safer and more convenient.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Cao Van Hoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huu Lung Commune, said: The main cause of the landslide was the impact of the recent storm No. 11, prolonged heavy rains causing the ground to absorb water and lose its structure. Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee of the commune coordinated with relevant units to conduct a survey and delineate the landslide area. From there, warning signs were placed to limit people from passing through the above road section. At the same time, the commune selected a construction unit and implemented foundation reinforcement to ensure temporary safety as well as carry out the next steps.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Huu Lung Commune, the construction unit has completed the first phase of the remediation work, including reinforcing the foundation and treating the weak soil. During the remaining time of 2025, the contractor will continue to construct the concrete embankment, then reinforce the roadbed and restore the road surface to its original condition. The commune has also proposed allocating additional funds to speed up the progress and complete the remediation of the landslide as soon as possible to ensure traffic safety, especially for teachers and parents of students going to school every day.
Currently, as the rainy and stormy season is still complicated, the risk of landslides may continue to occur if not handled promptly. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to promptly repair the landslide on the road leading to Son Ha Primary School to ensure the safety of teachers, students and people participating in traffic. At the same time, local authorities at all levels also need to strengthen inspections and proactively develop plans to prevent and combat landslides in the coming time, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters, contributing to ensuring traffic safety and stabilizing people's lives.
