Attending the meeting were leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, units responsible for forest management and protection throughout the province, and representatives from several related departments and agencies.

Lam Dong province has a natural area of 2,423,307 hectares; of which, the total area of land planned for forestry is 1,166,160 hectares (former Lam Dong province: 537,740 hectares; former Binh Thuan province: 335,440 hectares; former Dak Nong province: 292,980 hectares), accounting for 48.12% of the natural area. The forested land area is 1,132,111 hectares, with a forest cover rate of 46.72%.
Lam Dong province has 4 national parks; 3 special-use forest management boards; 23 protection forest management boards; 17 state-owned forestry companies; in addition, there are other forest management units in the province that are assigned or leased forests to carry out forest management and protection combined with production and business activities.

According to a report on the updating of forest resource developments, the Department of Agriculture and Environment stated that in Area 1 (formerly Lam Dong province), the forest cover rate for the entire province reached 54.4%. In Area 2 (formerly Binh Thuan province), the forest cover rate for the entire province reached 43.11%. In Area 3 (formerly Dak Nong province), the forest cover rate for the entire province reached 39.58%.

During the meeting, delegates proposed numerous solutions to strengthen forest management and protection. Forest management units focused their opinions on the shortage of labor for forest management and protection, but were unable to recruit due to low policies, salaries, and allowances for this workforce, which are not commensurate with the tasks. The units also expressed a lack of proactiveness in several plans, such as: payment for forest environmental services; approval of forest fire prevention and control plans; and reforestation plans. They also requested that these plans be approved earlier to ensure timely implementation.

In particular, the units also presented several methods of organizing forest protection management by applying science and technology, such as remote sensing equipment and drones, which have brought quite high efficiency in forest protection management in some units and proposed replicating this model throughout the province.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen gave detailed directives and requested all levels and sectors to change their mindset and act decisively to thoroughly resolve existing problems, especially those identified in the conclusions of relevant agencies.
Comrade Le Trong Yen emphasized: Forest protection is not only about preventing violations but also about creating economic value from forests, improving people's lives, and promoting business development.

Based on that, he requested that forestry officials change their approach to work and adopt a new mindset. In addition to clearly defining responsibilities, they should seize opportunities to promote economic development in the forestry sector. They should proactively meet with, support, and collaborate with businesses to both manage effectively and create conditions to promote the development of the private sector in this field, in accordance with the Central Committee's directives.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen requested the development of a coordination mechanism between various forces, including the police force, to effectively manage and protect forests and investigate, monitor, and handle violations of the Forestry Law.
In this new phase, it is necessary to assign specific responsibilities in the spirit of implementing the six clear principles: "Clear person, clear task, clear time, clear responsibility, clear authority, and clear results," in accordance with the Prime Minister's directives.
