On the morning of May 27, the Provincial Police Director decided to mobilize 18 officers and soldiers to coordinate with the military and local forces to organize the search.

Upon arriving at the scene, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police and the Provincial Police used underwater cameras to investigate, then coordinated with the military to use long poles with metal hooks to search. The investigation showed that the "death hole" had a lot of mud, soil, and a termite nest-like wall, so sending officers and soldiers to dive and search was not feasible.
After implementing many measures, the search team decided to pump out the water. Two specialized pumps from the Fire Department along with three pumps mobilized by the local militia were deployed. After more than four hours of effort, the water level had decreased and there were no signs of it rising back.

The "death hole" appeared on National Highway 3B, passing through Kim Lu commune, Na Ri district on the night of March 28 and early morning of March 29, 2025. Initially, the sinkhole was about 7m long and 5m deep, located in the middle of the median strip, but then gradually grew larger. At the bottom of the sinkhole, there was an underground water source and a frog's jaw. Authorities have cordoned off this "death hole" and warned of the danger. Hundreds of cubic meters of earth and rock have been dumped but cannot fill the "death hole".
Rescue work is still being carried out continuously.
