License for circulation of drugs to treat recurrent and resistant cancers

Among the 103 foreign drugs that have just been licensed for circulation and use in Vietnam, there are new drugs in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

Director of the Department of Drug Administration ( Ministry of Health ) Vu Tuan Cuong has just signed a decision to promulgate a list of 103 foreign drugs that are granted registration certificates for circulation in Vietnam, from July 17, 2025.

Cancer treatment drugs are on the list of 103 foreign drugs recently licensed in Vietnam.

According to this list, newly registered drugs belong to the groups of drugs used to treat cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, and digestive diseases; drugs used to treat respiratory diseases, pain and fever relief, and cancer...

Among the drugs granted registration for circulation are cancer treatment drugs that can destroy and reduce the number of cancer cells in the body, indicated in cases of adult patients with relapsed, treatment-resistant mantle cell lymphoma; drugs to treat rare blood cancers.

The leaders of the Drug Administration of Vietnam require that drug manufacturing and registration establishments are responsible for manufacturing and supplying drugs to Vietnam in accordance with the records and documents registered with the Ministry of Health and must print or affix the registration number issued by the Ministry of Health on the drug label; fully comply with Vietnamese laws and regulations of the Ministry of Health on drug manufacturing, import and circulation in Vietnam.

If there are any changes in the drug circulation process in the home country and in Vietnam, it must be reported immediately to the Drug Administration. At the same time, update the drug quality standards according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Add new drugs to the list of health insurance drugs

The Ministry of Health said that its functional units are urgently reviewing, revising, updating and adding new drugs to the list of health insurance drugs with high treatment effectiveness and removing drugs that are no longer suitable from the list.

The addition of the list of drugs, medical equipment, and medical technical services to the scope of benefits for health insurance participants is carefully considered to ensure the solvency of the Health Insurance Fund.

Currently, cancer patients with health insurance cards are covered by the Health Insurance Fund, including drugs and other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery; targeted therapy, with different payment levels.
