Inter-regional connection
At the construction site of the Golden Canal Bridge and the approach road connecting Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city, the working atmosphere is very urgent. Hundreds of workers and dozens of machines and equipment are mobilized and divided into 6 construction teams, including the river, the approach bridge and the road connecting the two ends of the bridge.
Mr. Pham Van Hiep, Deputy Head of the project, said that all 6 construction teams were organized to work in 3 shifts, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions. The unit increased modern machinery such as crawler cranes, barges, bored pile drilling machines, Super T beam casting systems, etc. to ensure the progress and quality of the project.
At the approach bridge, all bored piles are completed, some pier bases, cap beams, Super T girders are completed. The unit is constructing the box retaining wall in Bac Ninh and continuing to construct pier bodies, abutment bodies, casting Super girders...
The Project to invest in the construction of the Golden Canal Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge started in September 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2027. The project is invested by the Bac Ninh Province Traffic and Agricultural Project Management Board No. 2. The total length of the route is 13,396 km, of which the main bridge is 743 m long.

The route starts at km0, intersecting with National Highway 17 in Nhan Thang Commune, Bac Ninh Province and ends at km13+400, intersecting with National Highway 37 in Tran Phu Commune, Hai Phong City. The project uses about 45.66 hectares of land, of which 17.82 hectares belong to Bac Ninh Province and 27.84 hectares belong to Hai Phong. The total approved investment is more than 2,182 billion VND.
Identifying this as a strategic, inter-regional transport project, the People's Committee of Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province (old) soon focused on implementing project site clearance.
After implementing the two-level local government, the People's Committees of Hop Tien and Tran Phu communes continued to receive and actively implement site clearance for the Kenh Vang bridge and access roads.
To date, the entire 133,700 m2 of Hop Tien commune related to 238 households has completed site clearance. In Tran Phu commune, the agricultural land is basically completed, with 8,020.7 m2 of residential land and perennial crop land adjacent to residential land remaining. Land not yet recovered from 24 households in Cat Khe village. Of these, 13 households agreed with the compensation plan, 11 households did not agree because they thought the compensation price for residential land was too low compared to the resettlement land price.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ben, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Phu Commune, said that he is focusing on propaganda, mobilization, and coordination with functional departments of the city's departments and branches to promptly remove difficulties and strive to complete site clearance in November.
Strategic location
The Golden Canal Bridge has a strategic location as it is located on the axis connecting two major national highways, National Highway 17 and National Highway 37, creating a complete traffic corridor. When put into use, the route will significantly shorten the travel time between Bac Ninh - Hai Phong, while reducing the load on existing national highways, promoting the development of industrial parks and industrial clusters along the route.

Not only is it a bridge connecting the two banks of the river, the Golden Canal Bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge are also an important link in the transportation network of the Northern key economic region. In the development strategy of Bac Ninh province, the Golden Canal Bridge is considered a "trade gateway" connecting directly to Gia Binh airport - a 4E-scale aviation project currently being deployed.
According to the proposal of Bac Ninh province, the route connecting Gia Binh airport with Hanoi capital and connecting Kenh Vang bridge to Hai Phong has a total length of about 31.6 km through Bac Ninh province, with a cross-section of 120 m. Of which, the section from Gia Binh airport to Hanoi city is about 22.9 km long; the section from Gia Binh airport to Kenh Vang bridge to Hai Phong is about 8.7 km long.
When the airport and the Golden Canal Bridge come into operation, this area will become a multimodal traffic hub, connecting roads, aviation, and large-scale logistics, creating momentum for inter-regional economic development.
The Golden Canal Bridge is an important infrastructure project, considered a symbol of the spirit of cooperation and the aspiration for development of Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city. The project contributes to completing the regional transport network, attracting investment, developing urban areas and improving the lives of people in the two localities.
