Female writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc returns with "Spring Lake"

The collection includes about 80 stories selected from works that were published in magazines from before 1975 to the present. The collection includes short stories revolving around contemporary female characters, from young girls, lovers, mothers, adventurers, noble people, to the miserable, slaves, and sacrificers...

Each short story takes the female character as the center, borrowing family background and social context - the era to feel and peel off the psychological layers of them at many ages.

Also from the anchor point of the female characters , the author cleverly places them in the circle of collective relationships: family, parents, siblings, lovers and society, and then we see their relationships reflect on life, and the changes of life that fluctuate the "emotional lake" within them.

The collection of stories bears the characteristics of writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc: a female author from the South, with the voice of a playwright, soft, gentle but also very individual and strong.

Author Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc is a stage director, writer, lecturer, artist, and screenwriter. She was born in 1953 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, graduated from the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City in 1980, and was a former lecturer at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City.

She has staged more than 30 plays and written more than 70 traditional and contemporary plays, hundreds of scripts for television series and many research works on theater and reformed opera.

Notably, she is the first Vietnamese person to bring Vietnamese works to the Off Broadway stage in New York as the author, director and actress of the plays: “The Missing Woman” (2008), “We are…” (2011).

She is the author of published books such as “The Candle Beyond the Mirror”, “Walking Alone”, “Trinh Tien”, “Five Nights with Little Su”, “Model”…

Author Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc is also the screenwriter of many movies such as "Hai Nguyet", "Pearls of the Far East", "Song Lang", "Quan Ky Nam", "Huong Ga", "Living in fear".
