Child health care is preparing for the future of the country

(Chinhphu.vn) – This was emphasized by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan during her visit and gift giving to pediatric patients being treated at the Central Lung Hospital on the occasion of International Children's Day, June 1, and her visit and gift giving to patients after lung transplants at this hospital on May 29.

VicePresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan kindly asked about the health of the sick child.

According to Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, the Central Lung Hospital currently treats 250-300 children each year, of which the number of children with tuberculosis is very high. What is worrying is that the detection of tuberculosis in children is very low, only 13-16%. Each year, there are 6,000-7,000 children with tuberculosis in the community that have not been detected.

"This is an issue we need to think seriously about and take measures to resolve soon in the near future," the Vice President emphasized.

According to Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, taking care of people's health in general and children in particular is an extremely heavy and glorious task for doctors. Children are the human resources to build a prosperous and happy country, so taking care of children's health is preparing for the bright future of the country, so the role of doctors is even more important.

The Vice President suggested that the health sector needs to forecast the epidemic situation, disease developments and people's health status well, in order to advise and propose perfecting policies and have timely mechanisms to implement the strategy of caring for and protecting people's health, including caring for and protecting children's health.

On the occasion of Children's Day, the Vice President kindly asked about and sent his best wishes to the children being treated at the Central Lung Hospital for good health, active treatment, and hoped that they would recover quickly and soon return to their families.

The Vice President also presented meaningful gifts to children being treated at the Pediatrics Department, Central Lung Hospital.

On this occasion, the Vice President also met and inquired about the health of 6 patients who had successfully received lung transplants, and praised the tireless efforts of the team of doctors and medical staff of the Central Lung Hospital in caring for and treating the patients.

Helping people access world-class services

Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Director of the Central Lung Hospital, said that inheriting traditional values ​​and receiving the attention of the Party, Government, Ministry of Health , and a united leadership team, the Hospital has promoted the application of the most advanced medical technologies and techniques, helping people access and use high-quality medical services at international standards right in Vietnam in diagnosing and treating complex diseases, rare diseases, severe cases, pediatric respiratory difficulties and pediatric tuberculosis, especially lung transplantation - the most difficult technique in organ transplantation.

In 2024, the Hospital successfully performed 4,932 surgeries. The Pediatrics Department, with its new functions and tasks of diagnosing, treating inpatients, and managing outpatients for lung diseases and tuberculosis, is currently the final unit in diagnosing and treating tuberculosis in children.

Every year, doctors detect and treat about 250-300 cases of pediatric tuberculosis, mainly severe and complicated tuberculosis such as tuberculosis of the meninges, miliary tuberculosis, tuberculosis of the spine, and drug-resistant tuberculosis, so the cost of treatment increases and the duration is prolonged. In 2024, the number of pediatric patients coming for examination and treatment inpatients and outpatients was 14,405.

The hospital has performed 7 lung transplants with a success rate of 100%, opening up the opportunity for many patients to recover. The process of diagnosis, treatment and surgery for lung cancer has also been performed by the hospital on a par with developed countries in the region and the world.

The hospital has done a good job of supplying and fully providing medicine, medical supplies and equipment for medical examination and treatment; not allowing shortages of medicine and medical supplies to occur.

With the goal of turning the Central Lung Hospital into a high-quality hospital, on par with international standards, performing well the task of eliminating tuberculosis, caring for and improving lung health for the people and international visitors, the Director of the Central Lung Hospital hopes to continue to receive the attention and direction of the Party and State in tuberculosis prevention, especially prioritizing social protection activities for pediatric patients, especially pediatric patients with tuberculosis.

At the same time, the Hospital hopes for closer coordination with the national pediatric system in controlling pediatric tuberculosis.
