The 23-year-old British athlete finished second in a dramatic 200m final, clocking 22.14 seconds at the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
She was just behind American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (21.68 seconds). This was the first major achievement of Amy Hunt's career, marking a strong comeback after a difficult period.
Amy Hunt was named one of the "defining faces of the decade" by Vogue magazine after breaking the Under-18 world record in 2019. But her career has since been slowed by long-term injury, illness and mental exhaustion.
In her first major final, Hunt fell behind in the first 50m, but found the strength to push on, thanks to memories of her late grandfather John.

What makes the athlete remarkable is not only her talent on the track, but also her intelligence and personality. Just a year after her breakthrough in athletics, she studied and graduated with a degree in English literature at the prestigious University of Cambridge.
When asked about her feelings during the race, Hunt called herself the new “goddess of athletics”. The silver medal of the runner born in 2002 is the second medal of the British team at this year's tournament.
