Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Le Quang Tu Do informed at the press conference.
Specifically, about 30,000 fake accounts have been removed, but the recurrence is still complicated. At the same time, in the first 6 months of 2025, many new licenses were issued for social networks, electronic information pages, and electronic games; and violations in food advertising were handled in coordination.
According to the Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Le Quang Tu Do, recently, online fraud has increased dramatically in both scale and sophistication. Many fake accounts have appeared in many different fields, from state agencies, businesses to celebrities... with increasingly sophisticated and organized tricks, causing many people to lose money unjustly, even go bankrupt.
According to authorities, this phenomenon has emerged strongly in the past three years and has become an organized form of fraud, even transnational.
To prevent the increasingly sophisticated problem of fraud in cyberspace, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said that the authorities have implemented many drastic measures, in which the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information has implemented two specific measures:
The first is to deploy technical tracking measures to block and remove these fake accounts.
"Recently, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information has held continuous meetings with Facebook, Youtube and TikTok - three popular social networking platforms - to request tightening of AI algorithms to block and remove violating accounts," Mr. Le Quang Tu Do informed.
The second measure is that the authorities have increased propaganda to raise people's awareness. In particular, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Public Security (A05) has sent text messages to each citizen to inform them about new scams on social platforms. At the same time, the website of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information also announced scams and received people's feedback on new scams.
Although the authorities have intervened and implemented strong preventive measures, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said that technical measures are only temporary, the long-term and sustainable solution is still to improve the "resistance" of each citizen against increasingly sophisticated forms of online fraud.
Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said that in the context of new technology developing so rapidly and sophisticatedly, it is necessary for the press to accompany in detecting and warning early about sophisticated fraud tricks. Thereby contributing to preventing and minimizing the damage caused by cyber fraud, together building a safe, healthy and trustworthy network environment.
