Hue City Police stayed up all night to help people cope with historic floods.

(Chinhphu.vn) - Faced with the complicated developments of floods in Hue City, the Board of Directors of Hue City Police has mobilized 100% of its personnel, on duty all night, synchronously deploying plans of "3 ready", "4 on-site", promptly rescuing, helping people evacuate to safety.

Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, many areas in Hue City were deeply flooded and suffered serious landslides, affecting people's lives and property.

On the night of October 27, at Hue Central Hospital, heavy rain caused deep flooding in many departments and rooms. Hue City Police mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with doctors and nurses to move many seriously ill patients and medical equipment to higher floors, ensuring absolute safety. Also that night, in the area north of Truong Tien Bridge, the Police force coordinated with the People's Committee and the City Military Command to bring nearly 40 patients, the elderly and people from the deeply flooded area of ​​Phu Xuan Ward to safety.

Ms. Hoang Thi Lan Huong, Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital, said that on October 27, prolonged heavy rain combined with rising water levels of the Huong River flooded many areas within the Hue Central Hospital campus. Many departments and rooms on the first floor were flooded. To respond to the flood, the Hospital has activated plans according to the established plan, ensuring absolute safety for patients, their families and medical staff. The Hospital has increased inspections of the electrical system, pharmaceutical warehouse, and medical supplies to minimize the risk of damage and loss.

"In the face of the complicated developments of the flood, officers and soldiers of Hue City Police were present in time to support the Hospital in moving patients from the first floor to higher floors to ensure safety. In addition, specialized equipment and machinery were also supported to be elevated and moved to areas that were not flooded," said the Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital.

Hue City Police officers and soldiers assisted in evacuating people from deeply flooded areas on the night of October 27.

During the night (October 27), Director of Hue City Police Nguyen Thanh Tuan went to some key points, directed the forces to review, make plans and immediately deploy forces to support the evacuation of people in areas at risk of deep flooding and 24 points at risk of landslides. At the same time, deployed forces to regulate traffic at 207 key traffic points, set up warning barriers at 18 construction sites to ensure safety for people and vehicles.

The leaders of Hue City Police said that they had mobilized a large number of vehicles and human resources, including 1,000 cars, fire trucks, canoes, rescue boats, along with more than 7,000 life jackets and hundreds of equipment, supplies, and necessities to serve the rescue and relief work. The entire city police force organized 100% of its personnel on duty, mobilizing more than 8,000 officers, soldiers, and security forces to protect the local order.

The forces safely evacuated over 1,000 households (nearly 3,000 people), supported the transportation of hundreds of vehicles and valuable assets, and distributed hundreds of boxes of instant noodles, drinking water, and necessities to people in deeply flooded areas.

Nearly 80 elderly, sick and pregnant women were taken to hospitals to safe places. The Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force, along with the police of wards and communes, promptly rescued 6 people whose boat capsized, ensuring the safety of the people; at the same time, maintaining security and order, traffic safety, and protecting property in the flooded area.

During the historic flood in Hue City, the image of police officers and soldiers in the cold dark night, wading in floodwaters, carrying the elderly, holding children, and helping the sick through flooded areas left strong emotions, demonstrating the spirit of "serving the people", being a strong shield in the midst of hardship.
