Towards April 30th on Thong Nhat bicycle
While many people choose to travel by plane, car or motorbike to Ho Chi Minh City on this April 30 holiday, Quang Ha chose a very unique way: cycling across Vietnam.
On April 5, Quang Ha set off from Hanoi, starting his journey on his Thong Nhat bicycle, the old bike that had been with him since childhood. Ha's luggage was simply a few sets of clothes, a personal speaker weighing about 10kg and the national flag attached to the back.

Sharing about his idea of cycling, Mr. Ha said: “My grandfather was a youth volunteer during the war, this is also the bicycle he took me on when I was little. So I thought, I will ride this "souvenir" bicycle into Ho Chi Minh City on this occasion, feeling like he is with me on every journey. A special thing is that this bicycle is also called Thong Nhat”.

The journey of more than 1,700km with an old bike was not easy. Quang Ha set a goal of cycling about 100km each day, and expected to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on 21-22. However, carrying a heavy speaker, a flag behind the wind blocker, and a rather old bike that had broken down many times, the time was not as expected.
“The biggest challenge was that the bike had not been used for a long time and kept having problems like a loose chain or punctured tire, so I had to stop and fix it. Especially since the bike had no brakes, I had to use my feet to stop or slow down, which caused my shoes to tear the soles. Luckily, none of the problems were too serious,” said Quang Ha.
In the early days, when he was not used to the rhythm of movement, he suffered from knee pain and thought he would have to give up. But after a check-up and rest, he continued his journey.
Feel the warmth of love on every road
Although it was not the first time he had made a long trip, what touched Mr. Ha the most on this journey was the warm affection he received along the way. From young friends who accompanied him on a part of the journey, to the uncles and aunts who stopped to encourage and ask after him.

“I feel very touched. The care and love from everyone is beyond my imagination. Some people even waited on the side of the road to give me water to drink, invite me to eat, and ask about my health. This is like a fire that gives me strength to overcome all difficulties," Ha shared.

When "conquering" the Bien Hoa city milestone, many people also recognized him, enthusiastically welcomed him, stopped their cars to chat, took pictures and expressed their admiration for the young man's will and goals.
Mr. Bui Du Thanh (Trang Dai ward, Bien Hoa city) said: “I have been following Ha’s journey for the past few days. When I knew that she had arrived in Trang Bom, I drove from Bien Hoa to pick her up. I also had plans to cycle across Vietnam like her but could not do it, so I really admire her journey, especially on such a meaningful occasion like this.”
The warm and friendly atmosphere of the people in Bien Hoa city made Mr. Ha emotional. Mr. Ha expressed: “Everyone kept encouraging me to keep going, arriving in Bien Hoa today, April 26, I was reassured. Everyone also told me that if needed, I could stop by their house to rest for a bit before continuing. Their kind words and concern made me feel like I was a member of my family."

After chatting with everyone, Quang Ha quickly moved back to Ho Chi Minh City to attend the state parade rehearsal early in the morning of April 27.
