He sat listening and took meticulous notes, occasionally helping lecturer Tran Anh Hung translate the lecture into English.

Charlie Nguyen said he had heard director Tran Anh Hung talk about cinema a few times before. This year, he decided to temporarily put aside his work to focus on learning, experiencing lessons and living in the cinema atmosphere in Hoi An. For Charlie Nguyen, Autumn Meeting is a way to refresh himself, and at the same time he wants to absorb knowledge from the famous director of art films.

“It has been decades since I sat down and looked up at my teacher. It was a very interesting feeling, and at the same time, it brought back memories after many years of hard work. More importantly, I felt the lesson that Mr. Tran Anh Hung shared was very detailed and specific,” said the director.

Charlie Nguyen, born in 1968, is an overseas Vietnamese director who returned to Vietnam to make films, making his mark with the martial arts film Bloodline Hero (2007). After that, he collaborated with Thai Hoa and had many hit works, being known as the "box office king" duo of Vietnam.
