5 days off for April 30 and May 1 holidays
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs ), civil servants, public employees and workers will have 5 consecutive days off on the occasion of April 30 and May 1.
Specifically, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have their working days swapped from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, April 26.
Thus, on Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2025, civil servants and public employees will have 5 consecutive days off, from Wednesday April 30 to Sunday May 4. Employees will work on Saturday April 26 to make up for the day off.
Agencies and units implementing the holiday schedule for Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2025, should pay attention to arranging and organizing the departments on duty according to regulations and work reasonably to handle continuous work, ensuring good service to the organization and the people. In particular, agencies and units should pay attention to assigning officers and civil servants on duty to handle sudden and unexpected work that may occur during the holiday according to regulations.
Agencies, units and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage businesses, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively carry out production, business, economic and social activities, ensuring stable supply and demand of goods, services and market prices.
For agencies and units that do not have a fixed schedule for Saturdays and Sundays every week, they must arrange a suitable schedule based on the specific program and plan of the unit, in accordance with regulations.
For employees not included in the above categories, the employer decides to choose the option of taking holidays on Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1 as prescribed for civil servants and public employees.
Salary for working on holidays 4/30 and 5/1
According to Article 98 and Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, if employees go to work on April 30 and May 1, in addition to holiday pay, they will also be paid overtime.
Therefore, in case employees want to work on holidays, they will be paid overtime on holidays. Accordingly, employees will be paid overtime on holidays, Tet or paid leave at least 300% of normal daily salary.
Overtime wages are determined according to Article 98 of the Labor Code as follows:
Overtime pay = 300% x unit price of salary or actual salary paid according to the work being done.
Overtime pay at night = 390% x unit price of salary or actual salary paid according to the work being done.
Thus, if including holiday pay, employees working on April 30 and May 1 will be paid as follows:
Work during the day: Get at least 400% salary.
Work at night: Get at least 490% of salary.
