Fishing boat sinks, 9 people rescued, 2 fishermen missing

On February 16, Ben Da Border Guard Station (Border Guard of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) received 8 fishermen from fishing boat BV 97209 TS that sank at sea for medical care and handed them over to the authorities.

A fisherman is given health care by authorities.

Previously, on June 23, 2023, fishing boat BV 97209 TS, captained by Mr. Ngo Van Tho (48 years old, residing in Vung Tau City), set out to sea to catch seafood.

At about 1 p.m. on February 14, fishing boat BV 97209 TS was about 66 nautical miles southeast of Vung Tau when it was sunk by waves. At about 3 p.m. on the same day, fishing boat BV 98878 TS, captained by Tran Huu Vuong (residing in Vung Tau City), was fishing and discovered 9 fishermen drifting at sea. They immediately organized a rescue, but the remaining 2 people were missing.

Afterwards, fishing boat BV 98878 TS brought the fishermen in distress to shore and handed them over to the authorities. Mr. Tho took another vehicle back to the scene to search for the two missing fishermen.
