On the afternoon of May 27, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Tu Anh inspected the agricultural production situation in Nghi Xuan district.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Tu Anh inspected watermelon production activities in Xuan Hong commune. The whole commune currently has nearly 50 hectares of watermelons that are ready for harvest. During the rain on May 24, nearly 15 hectares of watermelons in low-lying areas in villages 7 and 8 were affected by rain and tides causing flooding. Immediately after that, the commune mobilized machines to build embankments and pump water to "rescue" areas at risk of damage.
Next, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council inspected agricultural production in Xuan Lam commune.

This year's spring crop, the commune has a total area of 218 hectares, with an estimated yield of more than 61.4 quintals/sao. Currently, the commune has harvested about 30% of the area. The recent rains also caused 20 hectares of local spring rice to fall and be flooded, affecting productivity and quality.

According to reports from localities in the district, heavy rain from May 24 to the morning of May 25 caused more than 92 hectares of spring rice to fall. Specifically: Xuan Hong commune 23 hectares, Xuan Lam 20 hectares, Xuan My 15 hectares, Xuan Thanh 3.5 hectares, Co Dam 5 hectares, Xuan Lien 10 hectares, Cuong Gian 16 hectares. Immediately after that, the district also directed localities to implement measures to limit damage to rice plants.
In the 2025 spring crop, Nghi Xuan district will cultivate 3,294 hectares, with an estimated yield of 57.5 quintals/ha (an increase of 0.49 quintals/ha compared to the 2024 spring crop), and an estimated output of 18,940 tons (an increase of nearly 500 tons compared to the 2024 spring crop). Up to this point, the whole district has harvested more than 1,900 hectares.
Through the inspection, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Tu Anh emphasized: With the forecast that Ha Tinh area is likely to have moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places with very heavy rain and thunderstorms, Nghi Xuan district needs to monitor weather developments, direct localities to proactively prevent, respond promptly, and urgently overcome to minimize damage.

Taking advantage of favorable weather, the district needs to mobilize maximum human resources and machinery to speed up the spring rice harvest, while closely following the crop calendar to implement summer-autumn crop production according to the plan. For crop areas damaged by the recent rains, consider supporting policies for farmers.
