Chairman of Gia Lai Province Veterans Association Nay Hu is devoted to the Association's work, uniting comrades.

(GLO)- For nearly 10 years as Chairman of the Gia Lai Province Veterans Association, Mr. Nay Hu has always been exemplary, dedicated and enthusiastic in his work. With a high sense of responsibility, he has contributed to spreading the spirit of solidarity and affection in the movements and activities of the Association.

In 1972, following the sacred call of the Fatherland, Mr. Nay Hu volunteered to join the army, carrying with him the advice of his father, a local guerrilla: "Live the way others live, try to preserve and learn from those who came before." Joining the H2 District Team (now Krong Pa District), he was assigned to fight against sweeps, protect the base area and increase production, contributing to ensuring food for the front line.

After the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, he continued to serve in the military, gradually maturing through many positions. In 2013, he retired while holding the position of Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command with the rank of Colonel.

In 2016, he was trusted as Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association. Realizing his role and responsibility, he proactively innovated the working methods, aroused the spirit of solidarity among members, mobilized generations of veterans to continue to promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", to be united, exemplary and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements.

He paid special attention to strengthening the organization, perfecting the system of directive and guiding documents to put the emulation movements of the Association into order. At the same time, he cared for the lives of members, encouraged and promoted the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance in economic development, contributing to increasing income and improving the quality of life for members and their families. Under his leadership, the Association's activities have become increasingly in-depth, affirming its core role in the patriotic emulation movement, building new rural areas and developing the local socio-economy.

Identifying demobilized soldiers as an important force in inheriting and promoting revolutionary traditions, Mr. Hu directed the Association's bases to focus on propaganda and mobilization work with many flexible and close forms. Through direct meetings, close coordination with local authorities and military units, the Association at all levels promptly grasped the thoughts and aspirations of demobilized soldiers, thereby creating conditions for them to stick with the Association. Thanks to that, the Association's members were supplemented and rejuvenated, contributing to improving the quality of activities and strongly spreading the spirit of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers".

As a leader, he directed the implementation of the Resolution on "Gia Lai Veterans with the movement "2 eradication, 3 assistance, 3 models" of the Association into life, becoming a widespread, practical movement, receiving the support of members. Talking about the content of the resolution, Mr. Hu emphasized: "The movement "2 eradication, 3 assistance, 3 models" is closely linked, supporting each other to improve the lives of veteran members. In which, "2 eradication": eradicating poverty and eliminating dilapidated housing is the central goal; "3 assistance": effort, capital, jobs - is a specific solution; "3 models": farms, production complexes and service businesses - are methods suitable to the actual conditions of each locality.

With practical methods, in the period of 2019-2024, the Association at all levels has effectively promoted preferential loans and internal funds, creating jobs for more than 28,000 members and people, contributing to reducing the poverty rate from 4.48% (in 2019) to 4.05% (in 2024). The whole province currently has 58/220 communes and wards with no members who are poor households.

The Association at all levels has mobilized members to contribute to the "Comradely Love" Fund together with organizations, businesses, and philanthropists, supporting the elimination of 358 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor members with a total amount of more than 7 billion VND. Since the beginning of 2025, in response to the movement of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses", the Association at all levels has proactively mobilized cadres and members to contribute working days and materials and actively connected social resources to join hands in building solid houses for members in difficult circumstances.

The movement not only contributes to improving living conditions and eliminating dilapidated houses, but also inspires confidence and motivates many veterans to strive to stabilize their lives. Mr. Le Huu Phong, Deputy Chief of Office of the Provincial Veterans Association, commented: “Comrade Hu is an enthusiastic person at work, always maintaining a close and united attitude with his teammates. No matter the circumstances, he is calm, listens and cares for everyone, creating a friendly, comfortable and sharing working atmosphere.”

Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Business Association Ngo Cong Doan said that over the years, Comrade Hu has always paid close attention to the Movement "Veterans are good at production and business". He regularly directs the Association at all levels to strengthen coordination and create favorable conditions to support enterprises owned by veterans to expand their production and business scale; at the same time, encourage members to actively participate in clubs and forums to share experiences, connect markets, create income and solve jobs for members as well as their children.

With his active contributions to the Association's work, the Chairman of the Nay Hu Provincial Veterans Association has not only contributed to improving the quality and effectiveness of the Association's activities at all levels, but also brought the Association to many outstanding achievements, receiving awards from all levels. He himself has been honored many times with certificates of merit and certificates of merit recognizing his efforts and dedication throughout his career.

But perhaps at the age of 69, what makes him most proud is not the titles, but the lives of many members gradually stabilizing, temporary roofs are gradually replaced by solid houses and the Association's movements are spreading more and more widely.
