On the morning of November 5, President of the Miss Universe Organization Raúl Rocha gave an official speech, strongly condemning the actions of President of Miss Grand International Nawat Itsaragrisil at the Miss Universe sash awarding event in Thailand.
Mr. Rocha expressed his solidarity and unconditional support to all 122 contestants participating in Miss Universe. He said that Nawat has forgotten what it means to be a host - someone who is supposed to serve, care for and support the contestants to have a unique experience with kindness and warmth in the atmosphere of a healthy and friendly competition.

He was outraged and strongly condemned Nawat for his public attack on Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch. He pointed out that Nawat had humiliated, insulted and disrespected her, and emphasized the serious abuse of calling security to threaten a defenseless woman, trying to silence and eliminate her.
Mr Rocha stressed that all women in the world should be respected. Fatima is not only a voice but also represents her country, like the other 122 contestants in Thailand. Many of them are struggling after experiencing similar situations and Nawat’s actions are not just against one person but against all the contestants present.
He vowed that he would not allow any of them to be attacked and humiliated. "The values of respect and dignity for women are non-negotiable and we are completely different from MGI," he said.
Mr. Rocha said he had ordered the sash presentation event – where the unfortunate incident occurred – to be postponed to avoid interaction with Nawat. He had placed a condition on Nawat’s participation in the 74th Miss Universe events to be very limited or not at all.
Mr. Rocha led a delegation of executives and experts to immediately go to Thailand and take control of the events that Miss Universe had entrusted and given to MGI under the direction of Nawat.
He stressed that Miss Universe has more than 100 national directors around the world and many are already in Thailand, always ready to support. Contestants from all countries have his full and unconditional support.

At the Miss Universe 2025 sash awarding event on the afternoon of November 4 in Thailand, Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil accused the Miss Universe organization of committing many illegal acts and said that Thai police had taken 3-4 people from the organizing committee out of the country.
The controversy centered around Nawat’s request that all contestants promote Thailand. Nawat took aim at Fatima Bosch, accusing her of not posting about Thailand and using offensive language.
Unable to bear the tension, reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig left the event, saying: "It's extremely disrespectful to trample on another girl." Fátima Bosch later emotionally shared: "We are empowered women and this is a platform for our voices. No one can silence us."
That same evening, Nawat livestreamed an apology and admitted that he called security because he was scared, promising not to force contestants to record videos again. However, this move was still not enough to calm the situation.
Mr. Rocha sent a strong message to all the contestants: "None of you allow things like this to happen in your life, no matter who they come from because no one is superior to anyone else. We are all equal with different skills and qualities, but that does not make anyone superior to anyone else."
He reiterated that Miss Universe is a platform to empower women and make their voices heard in the world.
