Admitting fear and being under too much pressure
On the evening of November 4, after the shocking scandal at the Miss Universe 2025 sash award ceremony, President of Miss Grand International Nawat Itsaragrisil - representative of the contest's host in Thailand - livestreamed to explain and apologize.
He admitted that he called security during the sash handover because he was scared and felt uncomfortable, worried that something might happen to him. He shared that he was under too much pressure and stress because of the problems that had arisen continuously over the past 3 days.
Nawat explained that he wanted to create a big event but about 20 countries refused to film videos for sponsors. He said that he had spent a lot of money and wanted the contestants to film videos promoting the sponsors. However, the situation was complicated because some contestants did not comply with this request.

He promised that from now on he would not force any contestants to do videos if they did not want to. Nawat would take care of the contestants to the fullest and let everyone do whatever they wanted without any strings attached and said he had apologized to the other 75 girls in the room for what happened.
Regarding Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch - whom he publicly criticized, Nawat said: "Don't worry about Miss Mexico, I will take care of her. Everything will be fine."
Ahead of the sash ceremony for Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand, Mr. Nawat accused the Miss Universe organization of many illegal actions and the Thai police had taken 3-4 people from the organizing committee out of the country. Nawat accused many contestants of not cooperating, claiming to have a list of about 20 countries. He created tension by implying that the contestants' scores could be affected.
Nawat directly called out Fátima Bosch, accusing her of not posting about Thailand on the orders of the country director of Mexico, who was deported by Thai police. When Fátima tried to express her opinion, the exchange between the two sides was inconsistent. Nawat's reaction went beyond all professional limits, even repeatedly asking the contestants to sit down, calling security to intervene when they started to walk out.
Following the tragic incident, the Miss Universe Organization issued an official statement reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of respect, safety, and integrity for all contestants. A high-level delegation led by CEO Mario Búcaro is en route to Thailand to strengthen cooperation with the host country to ensure a safe and professional environment.
Mr. Nawat livestreamed about the noise of the sash handover:
