National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga arrived in Tashkent this afternoon with the Vietnamese delegation to begin attending the 150th Assembly of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU-150), and an official visit to Uzbekistan from April 5-8.
The working trip of the National Assembly Chairman took place at the invitation of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Tulia Ackson, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, and Chairman of the Senate of the Uzbekistani Parliament Tanzila Narbaeva.
Welcoming the Chairman of the National Assembly, his wife and the delegation at I.Karimov Tashkent International Airport were First Vice Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safayev; Chairwoman of the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat” (Justice) Makhmudova Robakhon Anvarovna; leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and officials and staff of the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation concurrently serving in Uzbekistan.

It is expected that within the framework of attending the 150th IPU General Assembly, the National Assembly Chairman will deliver an important speech at the general discussion session on the topic “Parliamentary action for development and social justice”; and have bilateral meetings with leaders of the IPU Secretariat, leaders of parliaments of other countries and international organizations.
The 150th IPU General Assembly has chosen the right theme in the context of the world facing many challenges. Countries need to coordinate actions and promote multilateral cooperation to overcome global challenges.
At the IPU-150 forum, the Vietnamese National Assembly will exchange and share development experiences with parliaments of other countries and promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

During his official visit to Uzbekistan, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks with the Chairman of the Senate and the Chairman of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan; and meet with the President and Prime Minister.
The National Assembly Chairman will attend the Uzbekistan - Vietnam Business Forum; meet with representatives of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Uzbekistan, along with a number of other important activities.
This is the first visit by the head of the Vietnamese legislature to Uzbekistan, and also the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to the country since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992.
The visit affirms Vietnam's consistent policy of always valuing and wishing to strengthen relations with traditional friends, including Uzbekistan.
Over the years, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Uzbekistan have grown increasingly close, effective and achieved many positive results.
