








Welcoming the special visit of Secretary-General António Guterres, which holds profound historical and political significance, the Chairman of the National Assembly expressed confidence that the visit would create new momentum, contributing to the continued strong development of Vietnam-UN cooperation, building on the great achievements jointly attained on the common path for peace and development over the past nearly 50 years.
The Speaker of the National Assembly expressed gratitude for the valuable sentiments and support of Secretary-General António Guterres personally, and the effective contributions and assistance of the United Nations – a reliable and close partner of Vietnam in national reconstruction as well as in the current comprehensive Doi Moi (Renovation) and international integration process.

The Speaker of the National Assembly affirmed that Vietnam has always trusted, valued, and strongly supported multilateralism, the central role of the United Nations in global governance, and the leadership and initiatives of Secretary-General António Guterres.

The Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized that Vietnam will continue to contribute even more effectively to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world, to the common work of the United Nations, and to multilateral cooperation, including world and regional inter-parliamentary forums, especially within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man informed the UN Secretary-General about Vietnam's socio-economic development and social security efforts, as well as the National Assembly's efforts in building and perfecting institutions and internalizing international commitments, including many UN priorities such as implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and signing the UN Convention against Cybercrime, which is currently open for signing in Hanoi.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his deep respect and special affection for National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, noting his 18 years as a member of the Portuguese Parliament, as well as his commitment to and support for Vietnam's struggle for independence and reunification.

Secretary-General António Guterres expressed admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, particularly the results achieved in its recent rapid and profound reforms.

According to Secretary-General António Guterres, Vietnam is a successful model in promoting sustainable development, fulfilling its commitments to green transition, digital transformation, innovation, and strong reforms to achieve rapid, strong, and sustainable development and better serve its people. Considering these to be valuable experiences that can be shared with other countries and the United Nations, Secretary-General António Guterres was impressed by the efforts and contributions of the Vietnamese National Assembly in the country's development and recent strong reforms, as well as the urgent and active work of the ongoing Tenth Session.

Secretary-General António Guterres highly appreciated Vietnam's role, position, and contributions through its example, voice, intellect, and concrete actions, especially in implementing the major goals of the United Nations, as well as participating in peacekeeping activities and presiding over the signing ceremony of the UN Convention against Cybercrime. Impressed by Vietnam's foreign policy and the success of ASEAN, Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed that the United Nations fully supports Vietnam in its comprehensive development and integration, and supports ASEAN's central role in the regional security structure.
Secretary-General António Guterres also highly appreciated the active participation of the Vietnamese National Assembly in multilateral inter-parliamentary foreign policy mechanisms; and expressed his hope that the Vietnamese National Assembly would continue to play an active role in promoting multilateral solutions to issues of common concern.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen connections and promote cooperation mechanisms between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the activities of the United Nations and relevant multilateral mechanisms, especially inter-parliamentary cooperation and in the implementation of global initiatives.
