Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry (An Cu commune), formerly the Chairman of the Farmers' Association of the commune, made many positive contributions to the collective and the community. Therefore, upon retiring from his position, Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry was trusted and elected by the people as a respected figure among the Khmer ethnic community.

For over 10 years, in his role as a respected figure, Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry has consistently been a leading example in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws; eliminating outdated customs, developing the economy , and earning the trust and support of the local people.

To effectively fulfill his role as a respected figure, Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry often dedicates time to studying the Party's guidelines and policies, as well as the State's laws and regulations. He then flexibly integrates this into his efforts to educate and encourage people to understand, implement, and comply with them; he also regularly visits and assists those in difficult circumstances and those facing hardship.

"To gain people's trust, we must set an example and always put the collective interest above personal interest. We must explain things people don't understand, and patiently support them in things they can't do," shared Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry.

At the age of 73, Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry is still at the forefront of helping villagers change many outdated customs in funerals and weddings. He also works with the New Rural Development Steering Committee and various levels, sectors, and organizations to go to each household to mobilize people to donate land and contribute labor to build roads to ensure convenient transportation.

What Chau Kim Sa Ry is particularly proud of is that he has helped gradually change the awareness of his people regarding the importance of education.

According to Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry, in the past, not many families in the villages cared about their children's education due to difficult living conditions. Now, the local authorities regularly mobilize and provide textbooks and clothing, so the children can confidently attend school. As a result, many children in the villages have passed university entrance exams and returned to the locality to work as commune officials.

Having previously worked in the commune's Farmers' Association, Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry took the lead in mobilizing the Khmer people in the area to change their crop structure, diligently providing guidance on production techniques and switching from low-quality rice varieties to high-quality ones. At the same time, he encouraged the elderly to advise their children and grandchildren to adopt new farming methods.

For his efforts and dedication, Mr. Chau Kim Sa Ry has received numerous commendations from An Giang province for his contributions to transforming the appearance of villages and improving the lives of the people, as well as building and strengthening national unity. In 2009, he was honored to receive the "For the Cause of Ethnic Minority Development" commemorative medal from the Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities (now the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religion).

Mr. Ngo Van Hua (58 years old), a member of the Hoa ethnic group, is considered the "hotline" for the ethnic minority community in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province. Whenever they encounter problems, the community calls him for help, and he is always ready to assist them anytime, anywhere.

Over the past period, through many practical and meaningful actions, Mr. Hua and other Party members in the neighborhood have made a significant contribution to building national unity and promoting a core role in various aspects of social life in the locality.

Sharing with us, Mr. Hua said: “Having been trusted and elected by the people as a respected figure among ethnic minorities in the residential area, I am always aware of my responsibility to the community. Therefore, I always strive to promote my role, position, and prestige in mobilizing the people to participate in labor and production emulation, and to effectively implement local emulation movements.”

Mr. Hua added that, thanks to participating in legal knowledge training courses organized by the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, he has a clearer understanding of his role in disseminating the policies of the Party and the State to the people.

As a skilled farmer, Mr. Hua has 15 years of experience in the business of selling various types of white salt. According to Mr. Hua, his family's salt production facility supplies nearly 1,000 tons of white salt to the market each year, providing stable employment for 7 workers, with an average income of 6 million VND per person per month.

Speaking about Mr. Hua, Mr. Le Hoang Khoi, Secretary of the Party Branch of Ward 2, said that Mr. Hua is a very flexible person in handling situations, always promptly grasping the thoughts and aspirations of the people and proactively proposing and advising on appropriate solutions to effectively resolve issues arising in the residential area.

During his career, Mr. Ngo Van Hua achieved many outstanding accomplishments, such as: the title of "Excellent Farmer in Production and Business at the Provincial Level", "Party Member Who Excellently Completed His Duties", and for many consecutive years he was a "Typical Advanced Model" in the ethnic minority community.

The spirit of a soldier in everyday life.

Veteran Danh Phu always demonstrates the soldier's spirit in his work and life.

After leaving the military and returning to his hometown, veteran Danh Phu, a respected figure among the ethnic minority communities in the Phu Quoc special zone, continues to shine with the spirit of a soldier, actively participating in community work.

In 1978, shortly after the country achieved peace, Danh Phu, a young Khmer man, volunteered to enlist in the army, serving in the Phu Quoc District Military Command. After five years of military service, in 1983, he returned to the sea, where he was born and raised, and now continues to work as a fisherman with his family.

In 1999, Mr. Danh Phu borrowed capital to open the first traditional fish sauce factory. Then, in 2012, he established Hai Nguyen Private Enterprise with 110 fermentation vats, 4 anchovy purchasing vessels, producing over 350,000 liters of fish sauce, with an average profit of 2.3 billion VND.

Hai Nguyen Enterprise has created stable jobs for 40 local workers (including 15 who are covered by health insurance and social insurance), with an average salary of 8 million VND per person per month.

Remarkably, during the period 2020-2025, Hai Nguyen Enterprise contributed over 1 billion VND to social welfare activities, such as: supporting the construction of charitable houses, awarding scholarships, supporting charity kitchens, etc.

In particular, during the Covid-19 lockdown, Mr. Danh Phu did not hesitate to use his personal vehicle to go out to sea to distribute masks, hand sanitizer, and essential supplies to fishermen. These small but compassionate actions leave a lasting impression of a kind and considerate person who always thinks of the common good.

In his community, people are familiar with the image of a gentle, quiet man who is always at the forefront of economic development movements; activities to promote and encourage people to comply with the law, especially in protecting maritime sovereignty and refraining from illegal fishing.

He proactively supported two vessels participating in the Maritime Militia, one vessel coordinating disaster prevention and control, and one vessel accompanying the Border Guard force to disseminate legal information. As the leader of the safe fishing boat team and a member of the maritime solidarity group, he not only mobilized and encouraged participation but also personally printed tens of thousands of leaflets and donated thousands of flags and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to fishermen, all with his own money.

"As someone who works in the fishing industry, I understand the difficulties faced by our people. Since we are in a better position, we must help in any way we can. The most important thing is that our people do not violate the law and do not lose their future resources," Mr. Danh Phu shared.

At over 60 years old, when many have retired, Mr. Danh Phu – a veteran and businessman – quietly remains connected to the sea, not just for a living, but to protect the sea and maintain the people's trust. As a respected figure among ethnic minority communities, Mr. Danh Phu actively promotes and encourages fishermen not to exploit marine resources in violation of foreign waters, while also contributing to the protection of national sovereignty and aquatic resources.

In particular, at the 6th National Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association and the recent celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2025), Mr. Danh Phu was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Prime Minister, a well-deserved reward for this veteran and respected figure among ethnic minority communities who has dedicated his life to serving his homeland.
