Vietnam and Uzbekistan still have much room and potential to promote cooperation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Chairman of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan affirmed to continue monitoring, urging and supporting the two countries' ministries and sectors to cooperate in areas where both sides have strengths and needs.

On the morning of October 27, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Chairman of the Legislative Institute (Lower House) of the National Assembly of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov, Head of the Uzbekistan delegation to Vietnam to attend the opening ceremony of the signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime ( Hanoi Convention).

Expressing his pleasure to meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan again after a very successful official visit to Uzbekistan and attendance at the 150th Assembly of the Inter- Parliamentary Union last April, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed and thanked the delegation of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan for the warm reception given to the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation during the visit.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his thanks to Uzbekistan for attending the signing ceremony of the Convention, demonstrating Uzbekistan's strong commitment to join the international community in fighting against this new type of crime; affirming the long-standing attachment and traditional friendship between Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent greetings and best wishes to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Senate of the National Assembly of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva.

The Chairman of the Lower House of the Uzbekistan National Assembly expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam for the first time and attending the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention; and conveyed the greetings of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva to Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

Chairman of the House of Representatives Nuriddin Ismoilov congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing this important international event; affirming that the fact that many countries sent high-ranking representatives to attend shows the international community's recognition and appreciation of Vietnam's role in global issues, especially cyber security.

The two sides emphasized the importance of the event hosted by Vietnam, considering it a commitment of global significance to the common development and prosperity of humanity.

Chairman of the House of Representatives Nuriddin Ismoilov said he was very impressed to witness Vietnam's dynamic development and congratulated Vietnam on the results it has achieved in recent times in developing the country, enhancing its position and prestige in the international arena, and improving people's lives.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the Soviet people, including the people of Uzbekistan, for their wholehearted support for Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and in the current national construction and development; and affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to relations with traditional friends in the Commonwealth of Independent States region, including Uzbekistan.

The National Assembly Chairman also informed about the situation in Vietnam, the achievements Vietnam has made in socio-economic development, improving people's lives, and enhancing its position in the international arena.

Appreciating the role of the Uzbekistan National Assembly, especially the Legislative Institute, in implementing the country's domestic and foreign policies, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his wish that the two countries would strengthen cooperation in the coming time for mutual development and to respond to the current international situation.

The two leaders emphasized that the two countries still have much room and potential to promote cooperation; affirmed to continue monitoring, urging and supporting the Governments, ministries, branches and localities of the two countries to cooperate in areas where both sides have strengths and needs such as economy-trade, oil and gas, agriculture, culture, tourism, logistics, transportation; and enhance the role of the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism on economic-trade and science-technology cooperation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Chairman of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov agreed that the two countries' National Assemblies should promote close cooperation, strengthen their role in supervising the implementation of agreements reached and documents signed during the official visit to Uzbekistan by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in April 2025, and promote the bridging role of Friendship Parliamentary Groups and specialized committees in enhancing exchanges, understanding and connection, as well as exchanging professional information between the two countries' National Assembly deputies.

The two sides acknowledged the active and effective coordination between the two countries' parliaments in the international arena and agreed that the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Uzbekistan, including the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan, will promote cooperation at inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and increase delegations to attend multilateral parliamentary activities held in each country, contributing to deepening and making more effective the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Uzbekistan./.
