New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasized that Vietnam is a leading partner of New Zealand in the region and that New Zealand is ready to provide practical support in areas that meet Vietnam's development needs.
The two leaders agreed to finalize and sign the Action Program for implementing the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2025-2030 as soon as possible, to create a basis for cooperation in specific areas, with clear timelines and resources.
Both sides agreed that more breakthrough measures are needed to bring bilateral trade to $3 billion by 2026.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and requested New Zealand to continue expanding official development assistance (ODA), and to support English language training and specialized training for central and local-level officials in Vietnam.
Sharing common views on many international and regional issues, the two Prime Ministers agreed to continue to coordinate closely in multilateral forums, and to work with ASEAN countries and partners to make positive contributions to dialogue, cooperation, and the resolution of common regional issues.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the support and active participation of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon at the ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) in Hanoi last February, and respectfully invited the New Zealand Prime Minister and representatives to attend the 3rd Forum in early 2026.
