On December 12th, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang chaired the annual meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with diplomatic missions and press agencies based in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting were chargés d'affaires, representatives, press attachés, and officials in charge of media and culture from diplomatic missions of various countries and international organizations, along with a large number of reporters and press assistants from foreign press offices based in Vietnam.

This is an opportunity for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions, as well as foreign press offices, to review their coordination efforts over the past year, exchange views, and share expectations for the new year, thereby strengthening bonds of friendship and long-term cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang shared that for Vietnam, 2025 is a year full of pride with historical milestones and strategic breakthroughs.

The successful organization of the 80th National Day celebrations and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country not only aims to honor Vietnam's glorious past but also represents landmark events, showcasing the image of a peaceful , dynamic, and vibrant Vietnam, ready to enter a new era of development.

Vietnam's top GDP growth in Southeast Asia, record-breaking trade turnover, and strong increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) reflect the vitality of the Vietnamese economy and the confidence of foreign investors in Vietnam's potential and development prospects.

Foreign relations activities in 2025 were vibrant. Along with maintaining diplomatic relations with 194 countries, Vietnam upgraded relations with 17 countries, bringing the total number of partners at the Comprehensive Partnership level or higher to 42.

Vietnam's election as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term with a high number of votes; the successful organization of a series of major multilateral events such as the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime - the "Hanoi Convention"; the 2nd ASEAN Future Forum; and the Partnership for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) Summit… further affirm Vietnam as a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that the achievements Vietnam has made over the past year have always been accompanied, cooperated with, and supported by valuable international friends, including diplomatic missions, reporters, and assistants of foreign press offices residing in Vietnam – those who play a connecting role in spreading the image of a dynamic and friendly Vietnam to the international community in an objective, approachable, and vibrant way.

Thanking foreign journalists for their cooperation and support, the Deputy Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will always listen, provide information, assist with procedures, and create all favorable conditions for foreign press activities in Vietnam. The issuance of the new regulation officially waiving the work permit requirement for foreign resident journalists in Vietnam (Decree 219/2025) and supporting the acceleration of licensing for the establishment and reopening of some resident press offices demonstrates the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' appreciation and commitment to promoting comprehensive cooperation with the international media community.

Looking ahead to 2026, a year of special significance for Vietnam with the organization of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam – a historical milestone marking the beginning of a new era for the nation; the election of people's councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; the implementation of important foreign affairs events as well as preparations for upcoming multilateral events such as APEC 2027…, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang hopes to continue receiving the companionship, attention and valuable sentiments of diplomatic missions, international organizations and foreign news agencies and press agencies residing in Vietnam, especially in further disseminating information and images of a dynamically developing, peaceful, and friendly Vietnam to friends around the world.

Drawing inspiration from the image of the horse, a symbol of energy, speed, and endurance in Eastern culture, and reflecting the spirit and atmosphere in Vietnam today, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and other delegates and guests exchanged greetings and hopes for a Year of the Horse 2026 filled with energy, peace, and prosperity for each nation and the world.
