On October 27, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan co-chaired the Vietnam-Armenia political consultation.
At the meeting, in a friendly and open atmosphere, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Deputy Minister M. Safaryan informed each other about the socio -economic situation of each country, exchanged assessments of the current state of bilateral relations as well as directions to promote Vietnam-Armenia cooperation in the coming time.
Expressing her delight at the positive developments in the Vietnam-Armenia relationship, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Armenia; suggested that the two sides increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level channels, contributing to strengthening political trust; and continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations.
The two sides appreciated the role and close coordination between the two Foreign Ministries in promoting bilateral cooperation, agreed to regularly maintain the Political Consultation mechanism, and promote the signing of cooperation documents between the two Foreign Ministries.
Deputy Minister M. Safaryan expressed his impression of the dynamic socio-economic development in Vietnam; congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the signing ceremony of the Convention on Combating Cybercrime, affirming Vietnam's active, trustworthy and responsible role in global issues.
Deputy Minister M. Safaryan thanked the host country Vietnam for the warm and thoughtful reception given to the Armenian delegation.
Agreeing with Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang's assessment of the importance of economic cooperation, as well as the positive results in bilateral trade turnover, currently reaching 1 billion USD, making Armenia the second largest trade partner of Vietnam in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Deputy Minister M. Safaryan suggested that both sides effectively implement the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EAEU, of which Armenia is a member, to create strong and breakthrough changes in economic and trade cooperation.
The two Deputy Ministers affirmed the importance of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation and welcomed the second session in 2026; agreed to consider expanding cooperation in the fields of defense-security, education-training, culture, science-technology, tourism and local cooperation.
Sharing views on international and regional issues of mutual concern, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam is ready to be a bridge for cooperation between Armenia and ASEAN.
The two sides agreed that disputes should be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Regarding the East Sea, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and aviation, supporting the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, and complying with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)./.
