Promoting Vietnam-Australia cooperation

On the afternoon of October 27, in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the occasion of attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits.

The two Prime Ministers were pleased to review the positive and effective developments in bilateral relations; agreed to promote high-level visits and all-level visits through all channels and enhance coordination to make more positive and substantive contributions to peace , stability and cooperation in the region.

Believing that there is still a lot of room for cooperation between the two sides, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides continue to effectively implement the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; soon reach the target of 20 billion USD, especially opening up and facilitating the export of goods from both sides to each country's market.

Appreciating Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Australia's investment in Vietnam has seen remarkable growth; suggested that the two sides promote the effectiveness and further expand defense-security cooperation, especially cooperation in the fields of science-technology, innovation and digital transformation, human resource training, biomedical technology development, etc.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed that Australia always prioritizes relations with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a leading partner in Southeast Asia; committed that Australia will always prioritize ODA support for Vietnam, especially in areas where Vietnam is in need such as climate change adaptation, energy transition, digital transformation, circular economy, etc.
