
The Prime Minister congratulated the Philippines on assuming the responsibility of ASEAN Chair 2026, and highly appreciated the outstanding socio -economic development achievements that the Philippine Government has achieved in recent times, especially in implementing the "Build Better, More" program, maintaining growth, controlling inflation, and creating jobs.
The President of the Philippines expressed his pleasure at meeting the Prime Minister and affirmed that Vietnam is one of the Philippines' important partners in Southeast Asia. The President hopes that the two sides will continue to closely coordinate to promote the Vietnam-Philippines strategic partnership in all areas, from politics , economics to defense, security and cooperation at multilateral forums, towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026.
At the meeting, the two countries' leaders expressed their delight at the positive development of Vietnam-Philippines relations, especially since President Marcos' state visit to Vietnam in January 2024; and agreed to closely coordinate to build an Action Program to implement bilateral relations in the new period.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides continue to increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at high and all levels; promote the role of cooperation between the Party and National Assembly channels; effectively implement bilateral mechanisms; exploit areas with great potential such as digital transformation, processing technology, high-tech agriculture, and infrastructure; research and coordinate to form supply chains that promote the comparative advantages of each country such as developing a Southeast Asian ecosystem for the production of electric vehicle batteries and electric cars; promote rice trade and aim to sign a long-term agreement on this issue to contribute to ensuring food security.
Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. welcomed Vietnam's efforts in preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and agreed to coordinate and support Vietnam in improving its capacity to combat IUU, aiming to remove the EU's "yellow card".
The two leaders also agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation, maintain solidarity and unity within ASEAN; promote ASEAN's central role in international and regional issues, including the management and sustainable use of Mekong River water resources; ensure peace, stability, security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea on the basis of international law, UNCLOS 1982; fully and effectively comply with the DOC and soon reach a Code of Conduct (COC).
