Within the framework of the visit and work in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on the afternoon of October 27, the delegation of Da Nang city's leaders led by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh visited and paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Attapue province.

At the courtesy visit, comrade Nguyen Dinh Vinh thanked comrade Ninaphon Saysomphu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Attapeu Provincial People's Council, for his warm welcome and quickly informed about the results of the merger of Quang Nam province and Da Nang city according to the Central Government's policy.

Accordingly, from July 1, 2025, Quang Nam province and Da Nang city merged to become the new centrally-run Da Nang city with 93 communes, wards and 1 special zone.

The new Da Nang city has an area of ​​nearly ^12,000km2 and especially has more than 157.4km of border with Sekong province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The new Da Nang city has a synchronously developed infrastructure, creating greater potential, advantages and room for development with 2 airports including Da Nang International Airport and Chu Lai Airport; 4 seaports including Lien Chieu, Da Nang, Chu Lai and Ky Ha ports; a Free Trade Zone, an International Financial Center, etc.

Regarding tourism potential, Da Nang city has two world cultural heritages including Hoi An, My Son and Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve...

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh emphasized: Da Nang City has close relations with the central and southern provinces of Laos, including Attapue province.

Currently, Da Nang city with its new position, conditions, and situation, especially sharing a border with Laos, therefore, the city is paying special attention to strengthening cooperation with Attapue province as well as localities in central and southern Laos in the coming time.

Da Nang City has deployed the project to strengthen cooperation between Da Nang City and Lao localities, including Attapue province, for the period 2026-2030.

Besides, THACO Group of Da Nang city is also investing heavily in Attapue province.

Regarding the commitments signed by Quang Nam province and Attapue province for the period of 2025-2027, the new Da Nang city will continue to inherit and fully implement the commitments. The merger of Quang Nam province and Da Nang city will not affect the relationship and commitment to cooperation with Attapue province, but will also create conditions to further strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.

Providing more information at the reception, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh said: Da Nang city has decided to increase the total scholarship from 50% to 100% for international students from Attapeu province from the 2025-2026 school year.

Attapeu province needs to soon complete procedures and send students to study in Da Nang city in early November 2025.

In his reply, Comrade Ninaphon Saysomphu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Attapeu province, sincerely thanked the old Quang Nam province and now the new Da Nang city for their active support and companionship for Attapeu province over the past many years, especially in the fields of health and education.

He also hoped that Da Nang city would continue to support and send delegations of officials from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang to train officials of the agricultural extension center of Attapue province; hoped that Da Nang city would support and call on businesses to invest as well as support the locality to build a vocational secondary school in Attapue province...

Comrade Ninaphon Saysomphu hopes that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and Laos in general and between Da Nang city and Attapue province in particular will "be forever green and forever sustainable".
