Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2025 said that 725 years ago, on August 20, Canh Ty year (1300), Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan passed away in Van Kiep. To show gratitude for the merits of the national hero, a genius military man, with both intelligence and bravery, who led the army and people of Dai Viet to defeat the Yuan-Mongol invaders three times, King Tran Anh Tong posthumously awarded him the titles of Grand Master, Grand Duke, and Nhan Vu Hung Dao Dai Vuong. The people honored Hung Dao Dai Vuong as Cuu Thien Vu De Duc Thanh Tran.
During his lifetime, the people built Sinh Temple on the foundation of the old Royal Palace in Van Kiep to worship him. After Hung Dao Dai Vuong passed away, King Tran ordered the people to build a temple, which is now Kiep Bac Temple.

To this day, the treasure trove of heritage with profound humanistic meaning that Hung Dao Dai Vuong left behind over the centuries remains intact in value. Each place name and each immortal piece of literature bears the outstanding mark of Hung Dao Dai Vuong, becoming the immortal pride of many generations of Vietnamese people.
From Dong Bo Dau, Ham Tu, Tay Ket, Chuong Duong, Van Kiep to Bach Dang Giang, the heroic spirit of Dong A still echoes the glorious spirit of three victories over the Yuan-Mongol army. From the political and military ideology of "leniency and strength for the people", "using the short to rule the long, using the few to fight the many, using the weak to defeat the strong"; to the profound philosophies of life in the Essentials of Military Strategy, Van Kiep Sect's Secret Book, Proclamation to Soldiers... all are crystallized from the character of an immortal supreme god; a person who contributed to preserving "the mountains and rivers forever firmly in the golden cup".
On the occasion of the 725th anniversary of the death of Hung Dao Dai Vuong, the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee respectfully expressed his deepest gratitude to the ancestors who had contributed to building and defending the country; vowed to unite to preserve and promote the tradition of the heroic Port City - the cultured Eastern Land, determined to protect, build and develop Hai Phong City to become increasingly rich, civilized and modern.

From July 1, 2025, Hai Phong city was established on the basis of merging Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province, with an area of nearly 3,200 km², a population of over 4.6 million people, and the third largest economic scale in the country. Hai Phong has become a locality with a dense concentration of cultural heritage with nearly 4,000 relics, nearly 1,300 traditional festivals, and hundreds of unique traditional craft villages along with diverse and rich folk performances and traditional arts.
Notably, in the past two years, Hai Phong has had two heritages consecutively recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as world natural and cultural heritages.
Specifically, in September 2023, along with Ha Long Bay, Cat Ba archipelago was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage, affirming the unique landscape and ecosystem of Cat Ba archipelago; which possesses "water basins" between limestone mountains - vivid imprints of geological evolution and endemic biodiversity in a highly intact forest - sea - limestone ecosystem. Next, in July 2025, at the 47th session, UNESCO honored the Con Son - Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex along with Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem as World Cultural Heritage.

The relic complex has demonstrated the strong connection between the State, Religion and People, demonstrating the everlasting vitality and depth of Vietnamese culture over the centuries. In particular, Hai Phong is marked with five "precious gems" including: Con Son Pagoda - the center of Truc Lam study and practice, bearing the traces of the Patriarchs Phap Loa and Huyen Quang; Thanh Mai Pagoda - built during the Tran Dynasty on Phat Tich Mountain, associated with the career of the two Patriarchs of Truc Lam; Kiep Bac Temple - a space to worship Saint Tran, symbolizing wisdom and courage and the way to govern the country; Nham Duong Pagoda - the ancestral temple of Cao Dong - is a place to preserve evidence of the continuous residence of ancient Vietnamese people; and Kinh Chu Cave - known as "Nam Thien De Luc Dong" with 47 stele stelae, an "outdoor documentary museum"; a place to preserve the writings of many famous people reflecting the history, culture and beliefs of the nation over nearly 7 centuries, from the Tran Dynasty to the Nguyen Dynasty.
At this year's Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival, Hai Phong respectfully announces the city's heritages that have been recognized by UNESCO so that people, tourists and international friends can have more journeys to explore and experience the unique cultural and historical identity of Hai Phong city - where the quintessence of the heritage region converges.

In the coming time, the Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee hopes that each investor interested in Hai Phong will become a "talented architect", bringing their passion and creativity to embellish and increase the value of the heritage area; each Tourism Association, each travel, transportation and service enterprise will be the "designer" of new and unique tours and routes, connecting historical sites, craft villages, culinary products, and typical OCOP of Hai Phong; and each resident of the heritage area will become "an owner", a "media ambassador" spreading meaningful messages about standardizing service quality, promoting digital transformation, developing unique products and regional linkages, and practicing green tourism. Thereby, building Hai Phong into a "must-experience" destination in every tourist's journey.
The 2025 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival was held after the successful First Hai Phong City Party Congress. The festival took place from October 1, with the largest scale ever, the festival space was expanded; the organization ensured both solemnity, following traditional rituals, and modernity, professionalism, and friendliness to tourists. The ceremony was fully performed with rituals, recreating the unique historical - cultural values of the heritage site; the festival was rich with many in-depth activities, associated with cultural - tourism - culinary - craft village experiences.
Entering the 2026 - 2030 term, Hai Phong is facing great opportunities but also many difficulties and challenges. The Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee affirmed that, promoting the tradition of culture - revolution - heroism; with the aspiration to rise, Hai Phong aims to become the leading economic center of the country; a strategic trading hub of the region and the world; a large seaport city, a pioneer in industrialization, digital transformation, green transformation and innovation; a pioneer in "building a model of socialism associated with socialist people" in accordance with the direction of General Secretary To Lam, towards a Hai Phong that is comprehensively developed, sustainable and livable.

The highlight of this year's commemoration and opening ceremony is the art program with the theme "Hai Phong - The quintessence of the heritage land". This is a special activity to celebrate the event of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac relic complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.
The program was elaborately staged with the participation of many artists and actors from the Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater, the Dong Cheo Theater, the Vietnam Dance Academy, the People's Public Security Music and Dance Theater, Regiment 50 - Hai Phong Military Command and students of Sao Do University.

The art program is divided into four segments, recreating the historical journey and cultural quintessence of the heritage area. The opening segment is "Phu linh Kiep Bac" depicting the heroic spirit of Dong A, the glorious feat of Tran Hung Dao. Next is the segment "Phat Hoang and Truc Lam Zen", shining the idea of harmony between religion and life. The segment "Linh khi Con Son" evokes a peaceful space, where Nguyen Trai hid himself to read books, pondering about humanity and human morality. Closing the program is the segment "Hai Phong shines in the heritage area", honoring the dynamic port city, converging unique cultural and historical values, and the aspiration to rise in the integration period.
