At the invitation of Speaker of the National Assembly of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Shirin Chaudhury and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Zhelyazkov, on the morning of September 21, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to leave Hanoi for official visits to the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Republic of Bulgaria from September 21-26.
The delegation included members of the Party Central Committee: Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha; Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province Thai Thanh Quy.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang; Major General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Phuc province Le Duy Thanh; Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Do Hoang Long also joined the delegation.
The visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue aims to implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW dated January 9, 2023 of the Politburo; promote cooperation between our National Assembly and the National Assemblies of the two countries; continue to promote the Vietnam-Bangladesh friendship, affirming Vietnam's importance to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria .
For Bangladesh, the visit took place in the context of the good development of the Vietnam-Bangladesh friendship; at the right time when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1973-2023), contributing to consolidating and expanding the friendship and effective and substantive cooperation between the two countries in all fields; affirming the commitment of the Vietnamese National Assembly in cooperation with the Bangladeshi National Assembly after the visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly in 2017.
As the most important foreign political event between the two countries on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, this is the first visit of a Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman to Bangladesh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue is the highest-ranking Vietnamese leader to visit Bangladesh since 2018.
73 years ago, on February 8, 1950, Bulgaria was one of the first 10 countries in the world to recognize and officially establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.
The official visit to Bulgaria by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue comes 15 years after the visit by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong in 2008.
The visit aims to consolidate and further strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria in general; parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in particular; re-sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Bulgaria ; promote bilateral cooperation in various fields; promote the effective implementation of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), urge the Bulgarian National Assembly to ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); and discuss international and regional issues of mutual concern.
