Lung Cu is a border commune of Dong Van district. In order to raise people's awareness of forest care and protection and actively participate in planting trees and landscape trees to cover bare hills and mountains, creating landscapes associated with tourism , the commune has effectively implemented the Project on planting and renovating trees and landscape trees. In 2024, the whole commune planted over 66,000 trees, of which 27,000 pine trees were planted in the border area of ​​Seo Lung village; nearly 40,000 pine trees and Sa Moc trees were scattered in 9 villages. Since the beginning of 2025, the commune has planted nearly 700 Sa Moc, pear and Mai Anh Dao trees in 3 villages; 25,000 pine trees along the border in the commune.

Comrade Ma Doan Khanh, Chairman of Lung Cu Commune People's Committee, said: The process of organizing and implementing the project of planting landscape trees has been effectively directed and implemented by the Commune Party Committee. At the same time, we have received the consensus and support of the people and organizations from the commune to the village. After finishing the planting, we assigned each village and household to protect and take care of the trees. Up to now, the people of 9/9 villages have responded to participate in planting and taking care of trees on the roads and in the central areas of the villages. Through monitoring, the trees are developing and growing well.

According to the report of the professional agency, implementing the Project of planting 1 billion trees, up to now, Dong Van district has planted nearly 75 thousand trees of all kinds. Of which, over 10 thousand trees belong to the group of fruit trees, landscape and 65 thousand forestry trees. The number of surviving trees is over 66 thousand trees, reaching a rate of 88.6%. The total implementation cost is over 1.2 billion VND from the district budget, calling for socialization from organizations, individuals and people to contribute. Some communes and towns have a high survival rate of trees such as: Dong Van town reaching 99%, Lung Cu commune 97%, Lung Phin commune 97%...

Comrade Pham Duc Nam, Vice Chairman of Dong Van District People's Committee, said: Tree planting is carried out regularly, continuously and widely, creating an increasingly practical and effective movement. Many communes and towns have developed plans to organize Tet tree planting at the beginning of the year or on major local holidays, festivals and events. The district also regularly directs communes and towns to coordinate with specialized departments to select tree species suitable for the purpose, landscape and ecological conditions of each locality and each specific area; prioritizing the planting of native, woody, multi-purpose trees with environmental protection value, high protective effect, and local cultural identity. From there, join hands with localities in the province and across the country to effectively implement the Project to plant 1 billion trees in the period of 2021-2025.
