"Everyone wants to contribute to Tunnels: Sun in the Dark "

At the event, when sharing about Tunnels: Sun in the Dark, director Bui Thac Chuyen said he started writing the script in 2014. After completing it, he had to spend more time looking for resources to make the film. “Luckily, in 2022, I have enough resources to make this project. I am grateful to those who contributed their efforts to the film,” he shared.

Director Bui Thac Chuyen added that when he learned about Cu Chi, he understood more about the fierceness of the war. The male director emphasized: “It is more than what people see in the film. We only hope to create a small part of the indomitable war of the guerrillas that year. There are many stories that I have not been able to put into the film... To have this project, it is the effort of the actors and crew. Everyone wants to contribute their efforts to a work that has great meaning - the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification".

Producer Tri Vien "revealed" that when director Bui Thac Chuyen had the script and idea, he met with many people to present it. At that time, Tri Vien himself admitted that he did not know how to carry out this project.

“We had to think together because if we went to see the Cu Chi relic, we could see that just crawling down a short distance would be suffocating, let alone the actors who had to film 12 hours a day. Therefore, we built the tunnel in a studio. The more we did it, the more difficult it became...”, Mr. Tri Vien shared. The production crew added that Tunnels: Sun in the Dark is a privately invested project, but received great support from the authorities.

Ho Thu Anh said that when she accepted the role of having to portray the temperament of a person living during wartime, she felt pressured because she didn’t know if she could do it or not. However, thanks to everyone’s help as well as going through 3 months of pre-production before filming, the actress became more confident when getting into character. “When I had time to meet with the guerrillas, I found that I learned a lot. I also read more documents to be able to do well in the role of Ba Huong,” Ho Thu Anh expressed.
