Medical staff of Loc Binh Regional Medical Center participated in a training course to improve knowledge and skills in responding to climate change, organized by the Provincial Center for Disease Control.
In recent years, the Party and the State have issued many important guidelines and policies such as Conclusion No. 81-KL/TW on climate change response, resource management, environmental protection and Directive No. 42-CT/TW on strengthening the prevention, response and overcoming of consequences of natural disasters. These orientations affirm the determination to promote science and technology, digital transformation, circular economy and change the development model towards sustainability.
Green transformation is not only a macro strategy but has spread to every industry and every locality. In particular, healthcare plays a key role, because the living environment and human health are always closely linked. A healthy ecosystem helps reduce the burden of disease and improve the efficiency of the healthcare system.
In Lang Son, green transformation in healthcare is being systematically implemented with many practical solutions:
- Strengthening preventive medicine and disease control in the context of climate change, especially infectious and emerging diseases.
- Building a "green - clean - beautiful hospital" model, safe waste management, applying environmentally friendly treatment technology.
- Use clean energy, save electricity and water, contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Improve early warning and disaster response capacity, ensure medical facilities are ready to receive and treat cases when the number of cases increases.
- The primary health care network - the level closest to the people - has focused on investment in facilities, equipment, and improving the ability to adapt to natural disasters and climate change. Communication and education work to change behavior on environmental sanitation, clean water use, and prevention of climate-sensitive diseases has also been deeply integrated into primary health care programs.
Green transformation is not only the responsibility of the management agency but also requires the action of each citizen. Lang Son health sector promotes propaganda, raising public awareness of the relationship between environment and health; encourages people to save energy, use environmentally friendly products, protect water resources and maintain environmental hygiene, and improve health.
Community activities such as waste classification at source, plastic waste reduction, tree planting, and environmental protection are strongly promoted, contributing to the formation of a green and sustainable lifestyle in the whole society.
Green transformation, environmental protection and public health is a long journey, requiring the cooperation of the whole society. In that journey, Lang Son's health sector not only takes on the task of health care but is also an important link in the process of sustainable development, contributing to building a proactive health system that adapts to climate change. Only when each person, each medical facility and each locality takes action together - from saving energy, applying clean technology to living in harmony with nature, will the goal of building a green - clean - healthy Lang Son become a reality.
Green transformation is not only an inevitable development path but also a “shield” to protect human health in the 21st century. With the initiative of the health sector and the support of the community, Lang Son is concretizing the major policy with practical actions for a green – healthy – sustainable future today and tomorrow.
