Evening Stories with Stars: Actress Ngoc Xuyen Reveals the "Fate" That Brought Her to Stage Arts

Appearing in the show "Evening Story with Stars", actress Ngoc Xuyen shared sincerely about her career journey, from a girl who grew up in a family with no tradition of art to an actress nominated for the prestigious Mai Vang award.

Ngoc Xuyen is a young face familiar to THVL audiences, having participated in many film projects such as: Tet Sum Vay, Cho Tet Tinh Que, Trong Nha Ngoi Ngo - Xom Tro Thanh Xuan,... she also appeared in entertainment programs such as: Truy Tim Cao Thu, Gieo Van Doan Y, Doan Ca Dao Tim Tuc Ngu... with positive energy.

Recently, in the program "Chuyen Toi Cung Sao", sharing with MC Minh Ngoc, actress Ngoc Xuyen said that she was born into a family where no one pursued art, Ngoc Xuyen never thought she would become an actress. However, it was her uncle, who used to sing in tea rooms, who was the first to recognize her artistic qualities. Advised to try the entrance exam to the University of Theatre and Cinema, Ngoc Xuyen failed the first year. But luck smiled on her on the second attempt and since then, she officially pursued an artistic path. "At that time, I just thought it was simply a try, no one showed me the way, nor did I have any specific direction, but later I realized, maybe it was a great fate", Ngoc Xuyen shared.

Right after the first year of study, Ngoc Xuyen was fortunate to be guided by Mr. Vu Minh, one of the leading directors of Idecaf Drama Theater, and given the opportunity to try her hand at small roles. She began her relationship with the professional stage in 2012 and has been with it until now.

However, her career path was not smooth. After graduating, she spent 2-3 years without many opportunities, no movies, no game shows, just quietly appearing in supporting roles on stage. “That was the time when I stagnated. No one knew me, there weren’t many shows, but I still tried to keep my passion for the profession alive by acting in plays,” the actress confided.

In 2022, the role of an 18-year-old girl in the play Alo, Lo Hang directed by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc marked a turning point in Ngoc Xuyen's career. This role not only brought her closer to the public, but also helped her win the Mai Vang Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the field of theater and television.

“At first, I felt a lot of pressure. Singing, dancing, acting... so many elements in one role. But thanks to this role, I was able to show all my abilities,” she recalled. The overwhelming emotion on the first night of the show when the audience applauded nonstop is something Ngoc Xuyen affirmed that she “will never forget.”

When MC Minh Ngoc asked if she ever thought about changing careers during difficult times, she frankly shared: “At that time, I was only 21-22 years old, too young to give up. Actually, I didn’t know what else to do besides acting.”

Not living near her family, her parents in Lam Dong have never had the chance to see her perform live on stage, but they always follow her every movie and game show on TV. For her, that silent support is a great source of motivation to continue pursuing her passion.

Despite having made significant marks in her career, Ngoc Xuyen affirms that she is not picky about her roles. “I want to try many types of characters. There may be suitable roles, and there may be unsuitable roles, but only by trying will I know my limits.”
