Nam Dinh Club announced new coach to replace Mr. Vu Hong Viet

Nam Dinh Club's Board of Directors has appointed Technical Director Nguyen Trung Kien as the team's head coach, replacing Mr. Vu Hong Viet for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season.

On the afternoon of October 24, Nam Dinh Club announced an adjustment in the coaching bench. Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien will take on the role of head coach. Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Hong Viet will step down to hold the position of Technical Director.

Nam Dinh is the 4th club to change coach in the 2025-2026 season up to this point, after Hanoi Club (fired Makoto Teguramori), Becamex TP.HCM (said goodbye to Nguyen Anh Duc) and Song Lam Nghe An (said goodbye to Phan Nhu Thuat).

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien was born in 1979, trained at Nam Dinh, playing as a midfielder. During his playing days, he played for Nam Dinh, Saigon Port and was called up to the Vietnam national team.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien has been the Technical Director of Nam Dinh Club since 2023. He has worked with coach Vu Hong Viet to win two V-League championships and one Vietnamese Super Cup in the past three seasons.

The decision to change the coaching staff came as Nam Dinh FC had a poor start to the 2025-2026 season. In the V-League, the team only won 7 points after 7 matches, with the last 4 matches being draws and losses.

In the two international arenas AFC Champions League Two and ASEAN Club Championship, the team won 3 and lost 1 after 4 matches.

"In football, every club has difficult times and Nam Dinh is no exception.

However, the fiery spirit, the desire to win, the solidarity and unity will definitely bring the team back on track. Continuing to develop and achieving long-term high achievements is the task that Xuan Thien Group has assigned to the team," informed the Nam Dinh team.

Nam Dinh Club will introduce new head coach Nguyen Trung Kien in the match against Da Nang on October 27, round 8 of V-League 2025 - 2026.
