Opportunities from new dynamics

With the important driving forces that Da Nang city is implementing, experts, managers and businesses expressed their hope that the city will reap many positive results; at the same time, they advised what Da Nang needs to do to seize opportunities from these driving forces.

MR. NGUYEN VIET TOAN, DIRECTOR OF THE DA NANG INNOVATION STARTUP SUPPORT CENTER (DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY):

Actively implement solutions to promote entrepreneurship.

In its role, the center will focus its time on researching, proposing, developing, and implementing policies to support innovative startups and develop the startup ecosystem.

We receive and respond to feedback and policy recommendations, compile and report on issues related to innovative startups. Simultaneously, we build an information platform and database on the activities and needs of startup support programs and projects; and compile, evaluate, recognize, and publish data on experts, mentors, and angel investors for innovative startups on the National Innovation Startup Portal.

The center will also serve as a hub for attracting and connecting experts in innovation and entrepreneurship both domestically and internationally.

To further promote the startup movement, the center will continuously organize events and competitions on entrepreneurship, technology demonstrations and transfers, and introductions of startup products.

The unit is developing a project on the development of scientific and technological information resources, innovation, and digital transformation to serve scientific research, technological development, and promote innovation and digital transformation in Da Nang by 2030; the Da Nang - City of Innovation project; and the program on the development of the science and technology market in Da Nang by 2030...

Expectations for Da Nang's semiconductor potential.

Vietnam in general, and Da Nang in particular, have many opportunities in the semiconductor industry, especially in the field of advanced packaging.

In particular, Da Nang's advantage lies in its excellent university and training system to serve the semiconductor industry; this is further enhanced by the diligence and eagerness to learn of the people of Da Nang and Central Vietnam.

A highlight of Da Nang's development is the Fab-Lab project, a laboratory dedicated to advanced packaging technology for semiconductor microchips, with a workforce comprised of highly experienced information technology engineers from both Vietnam and abroad.

We hope the government will facilitate access to state-level investment funds and science and technology projects for lab models like the one described above.

The country is undergoing a strong wave of innovation, especially with the Politburo issuing the "four pillars," including Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation; Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new situation; Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW on reforming the work of drafting and implementing laws to meet the requirements of national development in the new era; and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on the development of the private economy, which are strategic milestones.

These resolutions open up new opportunities for the Vietnamese economy in general and Da Nang city in particular.

In the coming time, the city's female business community will continue to create new and modern values, contributing to realizing the aspiration of taking the country further and making Da Nang a dynamic innovation and development center of the entire region.

Creating new spaces for development.

In the context of globalization and digital transformation, cities capable of positioning themselves within regional and international value chains through specific mechanisms such as free trade zones or financial centers will experience the fastest breakthroughs.

However, to fully exploit these advantages, a new governance mindset is needed, one that is not limited by the old administrative boundaries, but rather focuses on integrating policies and coordinating resources at the regional level.

Simultaneously developing a free trade zone and an international financial center in Da Nang is a historic opportunity.

Da Nang should select a number of key areas such as green logistics, digital finance, and applied artificial intelligence to build pilot models that break through old limitations.

Startups and high technology need to be placed at the heart of these models, along with the permanent presence of investment funds, policy advisory organizations, and especially an open legal environment.
