As the center of a cluster of 6 highland communes of Thuan Chau district, in recent years, Co Ma commune has exploited its potential and advantages to develop diverse trade and service activities, meeting the production and consumption needs of people in the commune and neighboring communes.

Currently, Co Ma commune has nearly 100 households engaged in trade and service, mainly focusing on a number of fields, such as: dry goods, fresh food, clothing; consumer goods, groceries; milling services, motorbike repair, construction, restaurants, accommodation facilities... in the Pha Khuong and Co Ma hamlet junction area. Every Thursday, a market takes place in the commune center, where traders transport all kinds of goods to serve the people. People in the commune also bring agricultural products to exchange, buy and sell...
To promote trade and service development, the commune has promoted, encouraged and facilitated small traders to expand their business investment. Promoted and mobilized business households to comply with the provisions of the Road Traffic Law and not encroach on traffic safety corridors for business purposes. Organized training on fire prevention and fighting; created conditions for households to participate in business in densely populated areas and advantageous areas on Provincial Road 108.

Mr. Thao A Sua, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Every year, the commune has propagated to business households to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on goods trading and food hygiene and safety. Raising awareness among people about recognizing fake and counterfeit goods and the harmful effects of using poor quality goods of unknown origin. At the same time, coordinating with functional agencies, the interdisciplinary inspection team organizes business households to sign commitments to comply with regulations on production, trading and processing; checking the quality of goods during peak periods, strictly handling violations to protect the rights of consumers and businesses supplying goods.
Mr. Lo Van Duc's family, Pha Khuong village, Co Ma commune, sells household appliances. Mr. Duc said: We import goods from authorized distributors of companies and businesses; regularly update new models, ensure quality, do not sell fake or poor quality goods.

The variety of business and service types has attracted a large number of people from Long He, E Tong, Muong Bam, Co Tong, Pa Long communes to shop and have fun on holidays, New Year, National Day September 2... From there, it helps business households increase their income, with average revenue reaching from 70 million VND - 300 million VND or more/household/year. The material and spiritual life of the people has gradually improved.
The family of Vu Thi Tung, Pha Khuong village, produces and sells ethnic Mong brocade to serve the shopping and usage needs of women. Ms. Tung said: The family has 6 sewing machines, making motifs, patterns, shirts, skirts, costumes... according to customers' requests. Each year, the family sells more than 1,000 handmade products, earning about 300 million VND. At the same time, it creates jobs for 6 local workers, with a salary of 4.5 million VND/person/month.
Ms. Vang Thi Xe, Cua Rung village, said: In the past, when repairing phones or buying fertilizers and corn seeds, my family often had to go to the district center, nearly 40km away from home. In recent years, the commune center has many stores selling agricultural supplies and repairing electronics and refrigeration. My family chooses to buy here because the prices are reasonable, the quality is guaranteed, the distance is shorter and more convenient.
Currently, Co Ma commune continues to invest in infrastructure, such as roads, lighting systems, upgrading markets, attracting traders and businesses to invest in the area. Developing more types of electronics, refrigeration, and large-scale motorbikes; encouraging and creating conditions for households to expand their businesses, increase income, and promote local socio -economic development.
