Paris Jackson has hit back at critics who have criticised her for scheduling a performance on the anniversary of her father Michael Jackson's death.

"So people are mad again," the singer began a series of videos shared on Instagram over the weekend. "One of the dates on the Incubus and Manchester Orchestra tour happened to be June 25th, which is a very sad anniversary for me and my family," Paris Jackson said of the tour's schedule coinciding with the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.

On June 25, the singer is scheduled to perform at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, USA. This date coincides with the 16th anniversary of her father's death. The "King of Pop" passed away at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009 after suffering a heart attack due to a drug overdose.

"So I think I have to explain to the critics that when you are not the one making the decision, you do not get to choose the date of the performance, the time of the stage or the city of the performance," she said, adding that the decision was made by the "big boss".

Paris also noted that she will not receive any preferential treatment or luxury accommodations due to her supporting role on the tour.

"At first we didn't have a tour bus, just a truck carrying equipment. This time I won't have a band with me. It's just me, my acoustic guitar and my sound guy - my fiancé," she added of Justin Long, to whom she confirmed her engagement in December 2024.

Paris Jackson further explained that her involvement in the tour did not warrant any favoritism. Paris also recalled her previous experience touring with the band as "one of the hardest things" she had ever done. The only reason she went on the tour was because she wanted to be the opening act.

"It feels like Incubus is helping me by taking me on tour," she shared.

Paris was announced as one of the opening acts with Manchester Orchestra on Incubus' Morning View + The Hits Tour in the US and UK.

"Super excited to have Paris Jackson join our tour," the band Incubus wrote in an Instagram post.
