At 5:00 p.m., after work hours, the local police force and security forces of Zone 7A were present at Ms. Ta Thi Dung's boarding house to check the demographic and temporary residence information of the tenants. This house has 12 rooms, was built in 2022, and currently has 15 tenants, all of whom are workers from other provinces working at local businesses.
“As soon as someone comes to rent, we remind them to register their temporary residence and temporary absence. The local police regularly conduct surprise inspections and guide people to follow the regulations. Everyone is aware that this is necessary to ensure public security,” Ms. Dung shared.
In the ward, there are currently about 40 dormitories with more than 1,000 temporary residents, mainly workers and laborers from other provinces. Therefore, the work of managing residence and checking population is considered a key task of the local police force.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Dang Trung Dung, Chief of the Ward Police: Most of the people in the area are workers from other provinces, moving around frequently, so management is not without difficulties. The unit assigns each local police officer to be in charge of a specific area, regularly going to the area to grasp the situation, promptly detect and handle cases of violations of regulations on residence; at the same time, advise the Party Committee and the government on appropriate and effective management measures.

The ward police currently has 11 local police officers, managing an area of more than 66km² with 39 neighborhoods, 260 residential groups, more than 50,000 permanent residents and about 10,000 temporary residents. Although the area is large, the force is thin, and there are many tasks, but with high determination, the ward police have proactively promoted the role of the grassroots security force to the maximum, closely coordinated with residential groups and neighborhoods to grasp the population situation, promptly updated changes related to population, household registration, temporary residence, and temporary absence.
Captain To Huong Giang, Head of the Regional Police Team, shared: The grassroots security force is an extension of the Ward Police. Thanks to them, we are able to promptly grasp information about each residential group and each boarding house. When there is a new case of temporary residence, change of residence or suspected violation, this force immediately reports it for handling.

From that smooth coordination, the Ward Police regularly organize surprise inspections of boarding houses and accommodation establishments; propagate and guide people to comply with regulations on residence registration; and at the same time organize periodic drug tests in places with many foreign workers. This is not only a practical measure to manage residents, but also to screen and prevent crimes, ensuring a safe living environment. From May 2025 to now, through the work of checking and reviewing residence, the Ward Police have discovered and arrested 3 drug crimes, 1 gambling case, and confiscated 156 weapons, explosives and supporting tools. In addition, population data on the National Population Database system is regularly updated "correctly, sufficiently, cleanly, and alive".
“Residential management is not only an administrative task, but also the foundation of ensuring security and order. People's awareness of law compliance has been raised. Many households and owners of accommodation establishments have proactively coordinated, provided information, and supported the police force in population management. This is a positive change, creating a solid people's security posture from the grassroots, contributing significantly to crime prevention and control, and maintaining a peaceful life for the people,” Lieutenant Colonel Dang Trung Dung affirmed.
