Regarding the case of the English center "holding" billions of dong and then closing, the Staff Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that as of May 22, after checking, this unit has not received any petitions related to the closure of the Australian Foreign Language Center.
However, through information reported by the press, the City Police are coordinating with relevant units to inspect and verify the above incident.
Many parents are complaining that the Australian International Education Center (AIES) and Australian International Education Center 1, headquartered in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, have closed and "disappeared" after collecting billions of dong in tuition fees.
Representatives of the two groups of parents at the two facilities said they had submitted their petitions to Linh Tay Ward Police and Tang Nhon Phu B Ward Police (where the two centers are located) and they had been accepted.
Parents hope the police will soon intervene to resolve the issue and help families regain their legitimate rights.
Preliminary statistics through payment receipts provided by parents show that the amount of tuition fees students have paid to the center could be up to more than 16 billion VND.
In a notice posted on May 8 at Kha Van Can facility and announced in the parents' Zalo group, the center said that due to the impact of the weather with widespread heavy rain, major problems with the facilities have not been resolved in time and to ensure the safety of students, the center will temporarily suspend teaching for a week, from May 8-14, to repair the entire system.
However, after that time, these two centers did not reopen and also cut off contact with parents.
