Aiming to meet Southeast Asia quality standards

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Education and Training announced the Decision of the Minister of Education and Training on recognizing the University Council and Chairman of the University Council of Quy Nhon University for the term 2025-2030.

The new term School Council consists of 19 members: 4 ex-officio members, 9 members from the school, 1 representative from the Ministry of Education and Training and 5 members from outside the school. The School Council is organized into the Standing Board of the School Council and specialized committees including: Organization - Personnel and Legal Committee, Training and Quality Assurance Committee, Science, Technology and Cooperation Committee, Finance - Facilities Committee.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Quy Nhon University for the 2025-2030 term.

In his acceptance speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan expressed his determination to work with the School Board to wholeheartedly fulfill the role of strategic planning and supervision, contributing to the sustainable development of the school.

Mr. Ngoan emphasized that the University Council for the 2025-2030 term will inherit the achievements and experiences from the previous term, focusing on building Quy Nhon University to develop sustainably, soon achieving the goal of becoming an advanced, modern, prestigious university in the national higher education system. From there, it aims to meet the quality standards of the Southeast Asian region, having a position in the fields of education - training, science, technology, innovation, academic exchange and international cooperation.

The Chairman of the School Board also affirmed that the school will continue to organize and reorganize the apparatus in a streamlined, efficient, effective and efficient manner; build a team of high-quality lecturers; improve the level of financial autonomy, management and administration capacity; expand the scale and diversify training programs; innovate teaching methods and improve training quality; promote scientific research, international cooperation, digital transformation, innovation and university rankings. At the same time, focus on strengthening cooperation with businesses in training, scientific research and improving the lives of officials and employees.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son congratulated the members elected to the University Council, especially the new Chairman of the University Council. The Deputy Minister emphasized that Quy Nhon University is one of the three largest multidisciplinary training universities in the Central region, with nearly half a century of formation and development.

The school currently trains 51 undergraduate majors, 24 master’s majors and 3 doctoral majors, with a scale of nearly 16,000 full-time students and 800 postgraduate students. The staff and workers are 725 people, of which over 50% of the lecturers have a doctorate degree or higher. In addition to training, the school is a major scientific research center in the Central region, with hundreds of international topics and articles each year, and increasingly expanding cooperative relationships.

During the 2020-2025 term, the University Council properly performed its functions and tasks according to the Law on Higher Education and related documents, laying the institutional foundation for the transition to an autonomous university model.

The Deputy Minister noted that the 2025-2030 term is a key and pivotal period, not only for Quy Nhon University but also for the entire industry. With its strategic position and mission as a key training and scientific research center, the university is expected to be a pillar in human resource training and applied research, contributing to the implementation of the Resolution's goals.

The Deputy Minister suggested that the University Council focus on the following contents: Improving modern university governance capacity; building an effective strategic management system suitable for the applied university model; accompanying the Board of Directors to review and adjust the development strategy according to Circular 01/2024/TT-BGDDT; promoting the strengths of the South Central Coast region; promoting new industries such as information technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, logistics; taking advantage of the potential for developing ICISE and interdisciplinary science.

In addition, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of attracting and retaining high-quality intellectuals, developing strong research groups and science and technology enterprises in the school; strengthening international cooperation; diversifying resources; promoting financial autonomy associated with transparent accountability.

The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that the University Council will be an "institutional support", a place to listen, dialogue and create so that all resources - from intelligence, finance, relationships to spirit - can be effectively promoted, for the sustainable development of Quy Nhon University.
