AgriS Gia Lai Agricultural Joint Stock Company harmonizes the interests between enterprises and sugarcane growers

(GLO)-Although the 2024-2025 sugarcane pressing season faced many disadvantages due to the weather, thanks to the timely implementation of investment policies, technical support, capital, purchase price insurance, etc., AgriS Gia Lai Agricultural Joint Stock Company finished ahead of schedule, bringing the highest economic efficiency to sugarcane growers.

Complete multiple targets

At this time, the sugarcane material areas of AgriS Gia Lai in the districts and towns in the Southeast of the province including: Phu Thien, Ia Pa, Krong Pa, Ayun Pa town and neighboring areas such as Hbong (Chu Se district), Kon Chieng (Mang Yang district) ... have been harvested, reaching the finish line earlier than the Company's plan. This is a great effort of AgriS Gia Lai in the 2024-2025 crushing season. Currently, farmers are focusing on watering newly planted sugarcane areas and sugarcane remaining after harvest.

In the 2024-2025 crushing season, AgriS Gia Lai's sugarcane raw material area will reach more than 16,000 hectares, an increase of 1,000 hectares compared to the previous season. In order to ensure harmony in harvesting between raw material areas, the Company has organized sugarcane harvesting earlier than every year, while increasing the factory's pressing capacity to 8,000 tons of trees/day. Along with that, the Company shortened the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday to purchase in time and reduce the pressure of burnt sugarcane, avoiding damage to growers in localities in the raw material areas.

Also in this crop year, due to the impact of climate change, prolonged heat has affected the process of caring for sugarcane in the raw material area. However, thanks to proactive solutions to respond to climate change, sugarcane productivity in the raw material area reached 75 tons/ha.

In addition, the Company continues to purchase raw sugarcane at a stable price of over VND 1.1 million/ton with sugarcane reaching 10 CCS, helping sugarcane growers gain higher profits compared to cassava and some other crops.

Mr. Bui Dinh Tha (Group 9, Phu Tuc Town, Krong Pa District) said: In 2016, when AgriS Gia Lai started investing in the district, his family started growing sugarcane on an area of ​​3 hectares. During the planting process, Mr. Tha noticed that the sugarcane grew well. Moreover, the yield reached 100-140 tons/ha, bringing in higher income than growing corn and cassava.

In particular, the Company has guided the people on investment policies from land preparation, seeds, transfer of scientific and technological advances, advanced and economical irrigation. Since then, his family has begun to expand the sugarcane area to nearly 20 hectares.

“In 2024, the drought lasted longer, so the sugarcane yield decreased compared to previous years. In the 2024-2025 pressing season, my family provided more than 1,500 tons of raw sugarcane. Although the output decreased by about 100 tons compared to previous seasons, in return, the sugarcane price purchased by AgriS Gia Lai was high, so the profit reached 500 million VND. Along with the existing sugarcane area in Krong Pa district, the family also rented 65 hectares of new land in Gao commune, Pleiku city,” Mr. Tha confided.

Mr. Hoang Duy Hoan (Yen Phu village, Chrôh Pơnan commune, Phu Thien district) shared: “I have been involved with sugarcane since the Ayun Pa Sugar Factory was first established (in 1995). Having gone through many ups and downs with sugarcane, up to now, AgriS Gia Lai has had many policies to support growers in developing sustainable raw material areas such as underground plowing, organic fertilizers, investment capital, water-saving irrigation, especially the policy of sugarcane price insurance for 3 consecutive crops at the lowest price of 1 million VND/ton.

This is a breakthrough of AgriS Gia Lai so that sugarcane growers can confidently produce, without worrying about output. With more than 5.5 hectares of sugarcane, each year, my family earns a profit of several hundred million VND.

At the end of the 2024-2025 crushing season, AgriS Gia Lai will purchase all sugarcane from people in the invested raw material area with an estimated output of more than 1.1 million tons, 10 to 15% higher than the 2023-2024 crushing season. Sugarcane prices will also remain stable at a high level, helping sugarcane growers earn an average profit of 40 million VND/ha.

Developing sustainable raw material areas

After nearly 30 years of investing in developing raw material areas in the southeastern region of the province, AgriS Gia Lai has now expanded its area to neighboring areas such as Hbong (Chu Se district), Kon Chieng (Mang Yang district) and Chu Puh district. Sugarcane is regaining its key position in the province thanks to the linkage of production and product consumption with AgriS Gia Lai, bringing high economic efficiency per unit area.

In the coming time, the Company will increase the factory's pressing capacity to 12,000 tons of sugarcane per day. Currently, the Company continues to implement investment programs such as: supporting farmers with new sugarcane varieties, nutrition, mechanization, capital investment... to help farmers access and expand raw material areas.

In addition, the Company maintains policies to encourage sugarcane growers to invest in intensive cultivation to increase productivity and quality of sugarcane for stable production to increase income and get rich from sugarcane. At the same time, the Company also creates a close relationship between local authorities, businesses and farmers to jointly develop sugarcane in a sustainable manner.

In particular, purchasing sugarcane at market prices so that farmers can feel secure in production.
