Hanoi's CPI in October increased more than 2% over the same period.

According to the Hanoi Statistics Office, in October 2024, the consumer price index (CPI) in Hanoi increased by 0.28% over the previous month, increased by 2.24% over December 2023 and increased by 2.20% over the same period last year.

Specifically, 9 out of 11 CPI groups increased compared to the previous month. Of which, the group of food and catering services increased by 0.55% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.17%) due to a 0.80% increase in food prices; food prices increased by 0.53%; eating out increased by 0.51%. The transportation group increased by 0.53% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.05%). Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.24%. The group of clothing, hats, and footwear increased by 0.21%. The group of culture, entertainment, and tourism increased by 0.17%. Other goods and services increased by 0.39%.

The remaining CPI groups increased slightly: Housing, electricity, water, fuel, construction materials increased by 0.07%; education increased by 0.06%; medicine and medical services increased by 0.03%.

However, 2/11 CPI groups tended to decrease compared to September 2024, specifically: The first group is post and telecommunications, down 0.19%, affecting the overall CPI by 0.01%. The second group is household appliances and equipment, down slightly by 0.01%.

The Hanoi City Statistics Office also said that in October 2024, the gold price index in the area increased by 6.26% compared to the previous month, increased by 35.45% compared to December 2023 and increased by 46.59% compared to the same period last year.
