Strengthening and deepening the Vietnam-Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

On the evening of December 9, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council Sergei Shoigu and a high-ranking delegation of the Russian Federation Security Council during their working visit to Vietnam from December 8 to 10.

Pleased to welcome Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu leading a high-ranking delegation of the Council to Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recognized that the relationship between the two countries is developing well and this visit contributes to strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.

Affirming that Vietnam always remembers the effective help and support of the Soviet people, including Russia, during the difficult times in the past and in the cause of national development and construction, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the two countries have gone through the ups and downs of history and always stood side by side, so in the new period, both sides need to make more efforts to preserve and develop the relationship that has been nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and relevant agencies of Vietnam for their sentiments towards the working delegation; affirmed that Russia always wishes to further develop the areas of cooperation that the two sides have a foundation for, continue to expand to new areas, suitable to the conditions of both sides to serve the development of each country, as well as further consolidate bilateral relations.

Mr. Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian side will make efforts together with Vietnamese ministries and branches to effectively implement the agreements reached during the visits and meetings between the two countries' senior leaders in recent times; at the same time, he thanked the Vietnamese Government for always paying attention and working with the Russian Government to promptly take measures to promote this relationship.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu reviewed the highlights of bilateral cooperation in recent times; acknowledged the results achieved in economic-trade, investment, agricultural, education-training, energy-oil and gas cooperation, people-to-people exchange, cultural exchange, sports, tourism, etc.; affirmed that the two sides still have room to exploit and expressed their readiness to study and further deepen the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the current context.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and requested the Russian Federation in general and Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu in particular to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and work stably in Russia; and suggested that the two sides continue to study mechanisms to simplify procedures for citizens of the two countries in traveling, to contribute to promoting substantive bilateral cooperation.

On this occasion, through the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent greetings to Russian President VV Putin, Russian Prime Minister MV Mishustin and other senior Russian leaders.
