A route steeped in history.
Despite the busy schedule at the end of 2025, and the bitterly cold weather in Lao Cai, especially in mountainous areas like Den Sang commune, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Director of Hung Viet Trading and Tourism Company Limited, immediately put aside his work and registered to participate when he heard that the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces were coordinating a survey of the ancient Pavie stone road.
For Mr. Hung, this is not simply an experience, but also an opportunity to learn more about the historical route, which he can then promote and introduce to tourists from near and far.
The ancient Pavie stone road is not simply a road; it is a witness to a historical period, where human hands have created magnificent structures amidst harsh natural conditions.
What makes this trail special is the meticulously arranged, sturdy stones that weave through the mountain slopes and forest edges. Walking along this trail, visitors will feel the solidity of the time-worn stones, under the canopy of ancient forest trees, creating an atmosphere that is both ancient and mysterious.
This is not just a travel experience, but also a journey back in time, where every step touches the past.

Magnificent natural landscape
One of the most appealing aspects of the Pavie ancient stone road is its natural scenery. Throughout the journey, visitors will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the majestic landscapes of the Northwest mountains and forests.
This route takes visitors through primeval forests with rich vegetation, where the air is fresh and cool.
Recognizing the immense value of the ancient Pavie stone road and the surrounding natural and cultural elements, Den Sang commune is developing strategic directions to make tourism a breakthrough sector for sustainable socio -economic development.
An important part of the appeal of the ancient Pavie stone road is the cultural diversity of the ethnic groups in Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces.
Developing community-based tourism not only exploits potential but also helps preserve and promote the cultural identity of local ethnic groups. Tourists come here not only to admire the beautiful scenery but also to discover the unique cultural features of the ethnic communities.

Mr. Tran Son Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province, said: "The ancient Pavie stone road is a valuable asset of both Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces. The survey is a practical activity following the restructuring of the two-tiered local government model. Through this, the local authorities, travel businesses, media agencies, the community, and the governments of the two localities will jointly review, agree upon, and reassess aspects ranging from infrastructure to services and tour route connections."
With the attention and strategic direction from the local government, the ancient Pavie stone road is entering a new phase of development, deserving to be an impressive tourist destination on the list of any traveler who wants to discover the pristine and majestic beauty of Vietnam.
