The Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency read out the search warrant for Le Xuan Dao's residence.
On January 5th, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency announced that they had executed a search warrant at the residence of Le Xuan Dao (born in 1995, from Nghe An province , currently residing at 125/12/3 An Phu Dong 9 Street, An Phu Dong Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City).
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency, Le Xuan Dao was a contributor to a newspaper with an office in Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, the Criminal Police Department (PC02) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police discovered a group of reporters and collaborators who specialized in finding construction sites, garages, and businesses operating illegally in order to extort money, so they planned to monitor them.
The investigating agency determined that Dao extorted property from a resident in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City.
Dao and her accomplices were identified as having taken turns approaching the victim to pressure her into giving money, threatening to publish her wrongdoings in the newspaper if she refused.
After a period of surveillance and investigation, PC02 caught Dao red-handed extorting 27 million VND from a resident in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, in December 2023, the Investigation Police Department of Quang Nam province also initiated legal proceedings against Dang Ngoc Bao (born in 1977, residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city) to investigate the act of "extortion".
Specifically, through monitoring the mass media, Dang Ngoc Bao learned that Truong Loi Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Dai Quang Industrial Cluster, Dai Loc district) was violating regulations in the exploitation and transportation of minerals at the sand mine in Ngoc Kinh Dong village, Dai Hong commune, Dai Loc district, but had not yet fully rectified the situation.
On November 28-29, Dang Ngoc Bao, along with several others, went directly to the mining site of Truong Loi Joint Stock Company to collect information and images, and demanded that the company's leaders meet and discuss the matter directly with Dang Ngoc Bao, threatening to publish articles that would negatively impact the company's operations if they refused.
At approximately 4 PM on November 29th, at a coffee shop in Phu Hai village, Dai Hiep commune, Dai Loc district, the Dai Loc District Police caught Bao red-handed receiving 9.8 million VND from a representative of Truong Loi Joint Stock Company.
During questioning, Dang Ngoc Bao admitted that he is currently a reporter for a magazine about the environment and society.
