[CYSEEX Q4/2024] 2024 Highlights: CYSEEX Steadily Moving Forward on Its Journey to Protect Cyberspace

On January 8, 2025, the "Closing Ceremony of the CYSEEX Cybersecurity Exercise for Quarter 4 and Year-End Review of 2024" took place in Hanoi . This important event aimed to evaluate the results of activities in the final quarter of the year, summarize the achievements of 2024, and outline the direction of activities for the Alliance in 2025. Alliance members demonstrated high determination and readiness to conquer all set goals.

The CYSEEX exercise is held monthly with the following key objectives:

Assess and test the training unit's ability to respond to external attacks.
Enhancing the capabilities and expertise in cyberattacks and building effective defense systems for Information Security (IS) and Information Systems Administration (IS) teams.
Enhance cybersecurity coordination between the unit and specialized organizations in responding to cyberattack incidents.

Regularly, every quarter, the CYSEEX Alliance holds a meeting to review the results of the exercises, aiming to draw lessons learned, update the latest information security knowledge, and enhance the capabilities of its members.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang – Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of MISA Joint Stock Company – Chairman of the Alliance, shared the alliance's operational direction for 2025 and shared interesting stories about information security, providing valuable knowledge and experience to the members.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoang – Director of Security at MISA Joint Stock Company – presented a report on the results of the CYSEEX exercise in Q4 and a summary of the Alliance's activities over the past year.

In Q4 2024, MISA, Viettel Solutions, and Bao Viet jointly hosted the CYSEEX exercise. With fierce competition between attacking and defending teams, the exercise identified the best teams with the following results:

Within the framework of the program, Mr. Vu Xuan Hai – RedTeam Leader, representing Mobifone Corporation, gave a very in-depth presentation on the topic: System Hardening Standards. System Hardening is the process of strengthening the security of a computer system by minimizing security vulnerabilities and potential weaknesses. The main goal of system hardening is to minimize the risk of cyberattacks, unauthorized access, and other harmful acts. This process includes securely configuring the system, removing unnecessary services, patching known security vulnerabilities, and applying other security measures. The presentation affirmed the essential role of system hardening in preventing security risks.

Mr. Vu Xuan Hai – RedTeam Leader, representing Mobifone Corporation, gave a very in-depth presentation on the topic: Hardening System Standards.

The recent Q4 review ceremony concluded a successful year for the CYSEEX Alliance, while also opening up new opportunities and presenting numerous challenges in the increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape. Alliance members are ready to work together to face and overcome these difficulties. The 2025 cybersecurity training series will continue to be a solid foundation for experts to develop their expertise, becoming pioneers in the field of security, and jointly building an increasingly robust and comprehensive security system.
