On the evening of August 17, at Phuoc Son District Sports Complex, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held the opening ceremony of the 20th Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of mountainous districts of Quang Nam province in 2023.
This is an activity of profound political and cultural significance; an opportunity for Quang Nam to introduce, honor and promote the unique and distinctive traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in 9 mountainous districts to the whole country and international friends.
With the theme "Colors of Quang Nam mountainous culture: innovation, integration and sustainable development", the 20th Cultural - Sports and Tourism Festival of mountainous districts of Quang Nam province in 2023 took place from August 15-21 with the participation of more than 2,000 athletes, actors, and artisans from 9 mountainous districts and 2 athlete delegations from the Provincial Military Command and Provincial Police.
Athletes competed in Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Stick Pushing, Tug of War, Slingshot, Crossbow Shooting; performed many cultural and artistic activities such as brocade weaving, sculpture, traditional cuisine, folk games, traditional costumes, unique folk songs typical of each ethnic group: Co Tu, Gie Trieng, Xo Dang, Cor, Bhnoong... living at the foot of the majestic Truong Son mountain range.
There are also activities to display OCOP products, photo exhibitions about culture and people, introduce the cuisine of ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas of Quang Nam province, organize famtrips and seminars on developing mountainous tourism...
Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said that the event, held every four years, is an opportunity to honor, promote and preserve the fine traditional cultural values of the ethnic communities in the mountainous areas of Quang Nam; at the same time, continue to promote the implementation of the Campaign "All people unite to build a cultural life," associated with the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho."
Through the Festival, discover talents, cultural, artistic and sports talents to foster and develop grassroots movements; select, train, and coach in a concentrated manner, improve professional qualifications, and supplement the core force of the province to participate in performances and competitions at regional, national and international levels in the coming time.
Speaking at the Festival, Mr. Le Quang Trung, Chairman of Phuoc Son District People's Committee affirmed that this is a good opportunity for the Bhnoong people in particular and the people in Phuoc Son district in general to exchange and share typical cultural values, achievements in labor, production and compete, demonstrate skills, techniques of mass sports and professional expertise.
"With all sincerity and aspiration to foster solidarity and develop all aspects of social life, Phuoc Son people always wish to exchange and learn experiences and skills from other ethnic groups in the province to enrich the cultural identity of their people, so that culture can develop into an endogenous strength to promote socio-economic development, building a prosperous Phuoc Son in the future." - Mr. Le Quang Trung shared.
At the opening ceremony, delegates, residents and visitors enjoyed an art program with the theme “Cultural Colors of Western Quang Nam – Aspiration for Development”. The art program introduced a colorful picture depicting unique and rich traditional cultural features, customs, and daily lifestyles of the mountain people…
The closing ceremony will be held on the afternoon of August 21.
