(NLDO) - The company operating the crematorium in Nam Dinh has denied the content that people accused of "overcharging" the price of urns containing ashes, saying there was a misunderstanding.

On March 5, Thanh Binh An Lac Vien Joint Stock Company, the operator of Thanh Binh Cremation Station (located in My Thuan commune, Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province) sent a report to the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee regarding the incident in which people accused them of "overcharging" for urns containing ashes.

According to the report, Thanh Binh An Lac Vien Joint Stock Company denied that it banned people from bringing coffins from outside to store cremated ashes. According to the company, before October 2022, when the old operator was still in charge, it was banned, but since January 2023 until now, the company has not banned this.

However, in the report, Thanh Binh An Lac Vien Joint Stock Company stated that the ceramic coffins brought by people are often of unknown origin, of poor quality, not inspected, and often break... causing difficulties for staff to arrange the remains, affecting the family's spirituality as well as the company's reputation, so the company recommends that people buy at least one coffin at the crematorium to best place the remains during transportation.

Regarding the additional cost of 3.5 million VND if you want to get beautiful bones, the company said that cremation will turn into ashes, however, people's families want to keep the bones intact for the deceased, so the fuel cost is twice as much as usual.

Therefore, if people keep the bones intact, it will cost 3 million VND, in addition to the usual cremation cost. On the contrary, if people request to take the bones intact and have a need, the company will advise and not force them.

Regarding the price of the coffin set displayed at the company with the lowest price from 2.5 million VND and denying the information posted on social networks reflecting the company's lowest selling price of 10 million VND is completely incorrect. In addition, this company said that the high-end products are 24k gold-plated products and have been fully tested.

The company also confirmed that 100% of the goods sold are fully taxed.

In the report, the company also stated that the sales staff advised that the package of 8 to 10 million VND was a combo of cremation services and other accompanying funeral services so that people could choose the best preferential service. The price of cremation services was 4.5 million VND, which was disseminated to funeral units and publicly posted at the crematorium.

The company admitted that the sales consultant had made a careless mistake in his words, causing misunderstanding and anger among the people. At the same time, the company said that this employee had been disciplined.

The coffin set offered for sale in Thanh Binh Cremation Station is reported by the company to be a 24k gold-plated product with full testing.

Previously, Mr. Chu Th. (from Nam Truc district, Nam Dinh province; residing in Ho Chi Minh City) posted information "accusing" Thanh Binh An Lac Vien Joint Stock Company of not allowing to bring the coffin inside and forcing to buy from this company at a high price after bringing relatives to be cremated at Thanh Binh Crematorium.

According to Mr. Th., during the process of using the service here, Thanh Binh An Lac Vien Joint Stock Company did not allow his family to use coffins or urns brought in from outside; forced them to buy coffins or urns from the company at high prices; had to pay an additional 3.5 million VND if they wanted to get "beautiful bones"; the initial cremation contract was only 4.5 million VND, but when they arrived and signed the contract, the company's consultant only advised on 2 service packages with prices of 8 million VND and 10 million VND, ignoring the package with a price of 4.5 million VND and said for sure there were only 2 prices above...

Mr. Th. requested that the authorities of Nam Dinh province should promptly investigate and clarify so that relatives of those who have died and had their loved ones cremated will no longer be forced to buy coffins or urns of ashes at high prices.
